A Pittsfield firefighter was found dead at a running track at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield on Tuesday morning.

“The body of an individual was found on our campus this morning by our maintenance team when they reported to work,” Brayden Rollins, MCI media coordinator, wrote to the BDN.

Pittsfield police told WABI the deceased was Zach Noble of Pittsfield.

Police said they were called to the MCI running track at about 6:30 a.m. for reports of a non-responsive male, and that medics were not able to revive Noble. They believe he suffered a medical event.

Noble lived in Pittsfield and graduated from MCI in 2015. He was a member of the Pittsfield Fire Department and Unity Ambulance

On Facebook, the Pittsfield Fire Department mourned the loss of Noble:

“Zach’s dedication to serving the public was unwavering. It would be a rare exception for our two departments to work together without Zach Noble on scene. Your friends in Newport will miss you and carry your memory on forever.”

Rollins of MCI said police determined there is no threat to either the MCI community or campus.

“This is a very tragic occurrence, and our thoughts and condolences are with the individual’s family,” he said.
