Traffic on the southbound side of Interstate 95 in Kittery was backed up on Monday afternoon after a tractor trailer carrying a load of french fries caught fire.

The incident happened at mile marker 4.

Kameron Naylor, 29, of Albany, Georgia, was driving the truck, owned by New Prime Inc. of Springfield, Missouri, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said.

The truck had a mechanical failure with the trailer which caused the fire, Moss said. Naylor tried to put out the fire but was unsuccessful.

No one was injured, but the trailer was deemed a total loss.

Police did not issue any citations, Moss said.
