Discovery Channel series spotlights Millinocket logging family

MILLINOCKET, Maine — When his father started him in the family logging business about 37 years ago, Rudy Pelletier never imagined that his daily grind would become the centerpiece of a television show.

And when film and television producer Sean Gallagher approached him almost a year ago with the idea of turning his logging family’s travails into reality TV, Pelletier still couldn’t imagine it.

“I didn’t think it was for real,” Pelletier, 51, said Tuesday, “and then your mind just wanders. You think, is this going to be the right thing or not?”

In the end, Pelletier agreed to do the show. He will see if he was right at 10 p.m. Friday, when the Discovery Channel debuts “American Loggers,” a weekly hour-long show focused on Pelletier Bros. Inc., one of Maine’s most enduring and successful logging businesses.

Discovery has ordered 10 episodes so far, Gallagher said.

A Bangor native and owner of Half Yard Productions, a Maryland-based television and film production company, the 42-year-old Gallagher hit upon the idea of a show on Maine loggers after seeing the History Channel’s “Ax Men” and “Ice Road Truckers.”

“They do those shows really well, but when I saw [Ice Road Truckers], I thought, ‘I know a road that’s more dangerous than that.’ It was the Golden Road,” Gallagher said. “I figured if we could figure out a family-driven show based around that, it would be great.”

Gallagher and his associates investigated the Golden Road, so called because it is one of the forest products industries’ main arteries into North America’s largest contiguous forest. They soon found the Pelletiers, seven brothers and numerous grandchildren descended from Gerald Pelletier, who began hauling wood out of the Katahdin region woods in the 1950s. The company incorporated under his name in 1976 and formed Pelletier Bros. Inc. in 1994, eight years before the family patriarch died in 2002. The show, which represents about a month of taping during the spring and fall, will illustrate the grueling nature and sometimes harrowing dangers of the logging business and how the family copes with it and one another, Gallagher said.

“You could just tell that this was going to be spectacular. You have a family and all its lineage. It’s their livelihood. And then you have the Golden Road and what it represents to Maine,” Gallagher said. “The thing about it is, it’s dangerous. It’s like this road without rules, and there’s an overlying danger factor either they don’t see or they absolutely downplay.”

“Certain things they see they think are really interesting if not unbelievable,” Pelletier said. “We don’t see it that way because we do it every day. The show will be good for the industry and the community and all that stuff.”

Jen Olsen, business coordinator for the Katahdin Area Chamber of Commerce, said she hopes the show is a hit. “Isn’t it exciting? I think it’s really good. It certainly brings to light the rich heritage we have for working in the woods,” Olsen said. “It is going to bring national attention to this region, which can only serve to help.

“A lot of the local population are tuning in, and I think it’s a source of pride. You hear a lot of buzz about it. I think it gives people a lot of hope,” Olsen said.

Pelletier said he was surprised at how easy it was to adapt to having cameras hovering nearby.

“You got to keep a straight mind all the time. They can’t do a good show if you don’t cooperate,” he said. Viewers who stick with the show will find themselves getting hooked on the Pelletiers, Gallagher said. “The family is the reason we are really glad we did this show. They are a family that everybody can relate to,” he said. “The drama of the everyday struggle to keep that business going, support the family — especially that big a family — is really great.” THE FIRST THREE EPISODES American Loggers — Fridays, 10 p.m. on The Discovery Channel Feb. 27: Timber in their blood — Rudy Pelletier and his crews race to make up for lost time but just wind up falling further behind. Rudy assigns his son Jason the dangerous, critical job of replacing a crippled bridge that was washed out in floods. Then two drivers crash their monster log hauling trucks sending shock waves through the Pelletier family that is fighting to keep their timber business alive. March 6: A week from hell — The rain has finally stopped so it’s time to get the wood to the mill. Pelletier Inc. is falling behind on its weekly quota so Eldon takes a big risk. Doubling the danger, Eldon hitches a second trailer to his truck and heads out onto the Golden Road — an experiment the other drivers think is nuts. Eldon is determined and looks to prove it can be done. March 13: Hurricane on the horizon — A hurricane hits, creating nearly impossible logging conditions all week. First, the Pelletiers have to deal with an overloaded trailer spilling its contents and cutting off logging traffic from Telos to Canada. Then, the worsening rain and mud force the family to shut down operations for a day — a huge financial blow. Cool! I'm def going to tune in!

I will have find my way up there and run onto the set naked

yeah, look at the golden road, they haul as much in one load as the ice truckers haul in 5 loads on ice hills and corners. and climb mountains. but do love the show.

I have loved The Deadliest Catch, Ax-Men and Ice Road Truckers and I will add this one to my list to watch as well. I've been on the Golden road and granted I didn't go down it to far seeing a huge logging truck coming at you is not fun being that they have the right of way and it's your job to get out of their way. It will also be nice to see Maine getting some respect from a very large audience as Ax-Men was filmed in Oregon.

I just setup my DVR to record the entire series so I won’t miss a single show.

been on the golden road many times, gotta respect it though. but very beautiful country, just never ends.

great fishing up there.

About time they film some real loggers!

I would bet the Pelletiers would never sell off or lease their lands to Massachusetts wind scammers like certain other logging companies........

Shows not on the air yet and I'm pretty excited for it. Kinda disgusted in a way though. All the truckers in town have been talking about how they were faking accidents, laying the trucks and logs out with a crane. Also handing employees scripts for fights that never happened. If your going to show trucking show how it happens not how you think it should be.

Netzdamon you can't script all parts of the show though and these people are not trained actors. You can't script a moose or deer running out in front of you. You can't script a log landing on someone. You can't script the dangers these people face almost everyday. Even if some of the fights are BS the show will still highlight the danger these people face so I can wipe my butt with a nice soft cloth of paper. It will still gain them a lot of respect from people such as me that rely on them for basic things that I take for granted.

While Ax-Men was a great show on History it only showed the cutting and pulling of the tress. It showed very little of the dangers that a driver might face after they are loaded and headed to a mill or lumber yard. Scripted or not I'm going to watch the show as I already stated my DVR is setup to record every show as I enjoy learning and seeing how others are willing to sacrifice a lot to give me simple pleasures in life. I'm far from a wimp but logging is way down on my list of jobs I would desire to do and I'm thankful there are people that do it.

Will have to look past what is scripted or reenacted, all in all it will be a very interesting show I think. Those from around that neck of the woods, forget that a large percentage of the rest of the population have no idea that area exists or that this activity occurs.

It is going to be neat to finally see a series about the area I grew up near. I have DVRed it too !! Love the reality shows.

Well! Look at that! There is another jerk speaking up. Goes to show what a little mind you have and I will be waiting to see what else you have little....

palamouch is speaking of and to the guy that was thinking of running on the set naked!!! You know the jerk

How about a show, of one of Maine's real manly- men?...... our governor Baldaci

I told my wife those guys on the ice road and Alaska had nothing on the guys up north. I've been a professional driver over 20 years with plenty of time both on and off pavement and I look forward to watching this show. So what if they "stage" a few things, it's stuff that actually happens they just couldn't sit around waiting for it to happen. As long as they are true to the situation it should come off well. As far as the staged fights, that's Hollywood, they have to create some sort of tension to keep the micro-attention span TV viewers coming back. Hopefully we'll get to see all 10 episodes

Glad to see the show come about. I went to school up to Lee. The foresty instructors name was Pelletier. Great class. Had a lot of fun there. Hunted off the golden in the past and you do get out of the way for those trucks. Glad to see something good going for the state for a change. If they did a story on the govenor it would have to be a horror story for the things he has done to the people of the state of maine. anyway I miss the state of maine and cannt wait to get back home.

Hey concerned1. In a family that large do you suppose life happens? I am not condoning any type of abuse, but I'd bet what's left of my 401K someone in your family has been abused. Does that make your entire family tainted? You really should not be slandering the family in this forum. And I don't know them from Adam and Eve.

Pay up scodud no abuse in my family bro. And you are right about one thing. You DONT live here so you DONT know.

Yea,why don't we flip this story over and turn it into a Pelletier bash thread...Not.Concerned1,you should not be so concerned!

I have had the experience of traveling the Golden Road with one of the boys when they were hauling doubles. It was quite a ride.I can only appreciate that job more now that I have had the experience of driving myself.Powerhouse Hill will test the mettle of any man especially when it is iced up.

We must give credit to all that haul on that road The Gardners,The Bouchards and the men they hire.

Hey Concerned1,

seems like u have a chip on your shoulders...must have had some type of mental abuse. This wouldn't have such an effect on a family that doesn't belong to you! Bring your negativity elseware......your wiping yourself with paper aren't you?? (from lumber)

I love how they make it sound like Eldon Pelletier is the first person to haul doubles on that road! I grew up on the Golden Road at a camp. I remember when doubles and triples were the norm. Calling it an experiment is just crazy...give credit where credit is due...the men that used to haul those loads 3 or 4 times a day up and down that road have to be insulted by that whole clip.

I, too, have heard of all the scripted parts. The truck they bought and painted to look like theirs just so they could crash/trash it for 'good' tv. I give the Pelletiers props for the show. it has brought money to the area, which we desperately need. The production crew stayed at local hotels and ate at local restaurants.

with all that said I can't wait to see the show.

I always get crap on here for pointing out that any story in the BDN involving any small town brings out those who love to gossip and have negative comments. Usually from those who make such comments. Thanks, concerned1, for continuing to prove my theory. As far as the show goes, I to have set it to my DVR and can't wait to watch it. I hope it is a great success!

What does it matter if they were first or not, which I believe they were? They were there from the get-go,hauling triples even. The whole point is that the people thought that they had an interesting story about some of us and the area. Why can't you be proud of that?Lets make a negative out of something positive!!!!

Concerned1 is a negative person through and through...I have read this persons comments for months and something is wrong there! I think this is a wonderful story and I am glad this hard working family from Maine will be showcased...as we all should be.

Concerned1....lets put your family on the Discovery Channel...if you have one worth watching...

Hey concerned1. Looks like you need to get the chip off your shoulder and put it in your mouth, cause you don't seem to be very well liked on this blog. Momma always said that if you can't say nothing nice, than shut your mouth. It seems as though you were at one time a part of the Pelletier family. I see why your not anymore. If you were ever involved with any of the Pelletiers, your probably still living off their money. It looks like since the Pelletier brothers are popular, you probably want a peice of it now.Eat your heart out, stay away.

PS- alot of things that happen on the show are thing from years ago. They are all true storys, just re-enacted. Yes, there are more than just the Pelletiers on the Golden Road, and they all work very very hard, but the Pelletiers were the lucky ones that chosen to do the show. (and just so you know) The Pelletiers were the first to haul Doubles on the golden road in 1980.

Hey concerned1. This is a logging show, not Young and The Restless. Go watch The View or something.

I was lucky enough to have Met Gerald and his family years ago at the bangor fair when he pulled his truck Pellitiers Pride!

What a great person nice family and a very hard working bunch, I am glad to see both Maine and a Family from it on a TV program that will let others learn the meaning of a Ocupation from which most take for granted.

I myself am looking forward to seeing it!

As a native "County boy," it's great to see Discovery's interest in our way of life. The "other Maine" will not change. After years in the marketing and PR business, I actually moved back to Maine FOR QUALITY OF LIFE and for my kids' sanity; and 2 years ago...Over The Cliff Productions (our company) began shooting "outdoor and lifestyle" films for series TV. Although many shows are poor in their concept and general treatment (like Ax Men), Ice Truckers was a good series and hopefully this show willl be as interesting and as exciting. I look forward to the series. Maine needs a PR boost, regardless of the production needs. WWW.OverTheCliffProductions.com

concerned1 PROVE IT BEFORE YOU SPEW IT

I was working in and around the Great Northern Nekoosa's woodyard from 1975 to when it was shutdown in the 90's. Larry Pelletier was the first to bring a double trailer into the yard to be unloaded. I believe one of H.O. Bouchard's trucks was the first to bring a triple down the Golden Road. Driving doubles became common after a while, but still dangerous. Then the mill started importing wood chips from Canada and the drivers from there didn't care about any how fast they were going as long as they got their loads in and dumped. I cant't wait to see the show, it should prove to be interesting.

congratulations to the Pelletier Brothers, and their employees for working so very hard and sacraficing so much over the past years to provide for their families. And let us not forget the late Gerald Pelletier who without his hard work and dedication none of this would have come to date. I am very proud of my family and know that they deserve all the good that has come there way, it hasn't been easy it has been very trying at times (no matter what anyone thinks they may know). Congrats to all envovled, I am very proud!!!!!

As a resident of Millinocket for almost all my life , I was lucky enough to be befriended by many of the men and woman of the Pelletier family. They are kind, loving and generous people. They are so much fun!!! I love spending time with them! There is never any loss of laughing, stories and just good times.

Just last month I had a dead battery in my vehicle and I walked into the AT Cafe and asked Jason Pelletier if he had cables, and he said " You bet I do" and set down his meal and came right out to help me.

So, Concerned1 - I wouldnt trash talk the local's and the good men and woman that work so hard for their family.

Say it again Cassie!!!

I look forward to seeing the show, all else aside it is good to have such a great story and family in Millinocket, and with all the negative impact the area has had it is great for the area to finally get some positive press. Keep the personal stuff to your self Concerned1 and let the positive energy flow....

my son learned to drive real roads on the golden road at age 12. he had driven in hay fields and gardens since 10. before he got behind the wheel I told him to pull off to the side of the road and stop if you see a truck. but the first time you see a double and you are not at the wheel dont you get white nuckels. he is 28 now and I believe that road tought him to drive like you were borrowing someone eles road.no road rage just git out of there way. I ditched a truck on the stud mill road in poor road conditions to let him have the middle of the crown. he slowed down safely and backed down to pull me out. truckers on those roads are good men. I don't think he saw the 5 chainsaws in my truck before he backed up.

How cool!!! I love to see Maine and Maine families featured on national shows!

Well, seeing as how none of them are assumed trained actors, I'm sure if there are scripted parts then people will be able to tell. I mean this is a northern Maine family here. Mainers don't take BS. So what if some stuff is staged? I'm wicked excited to watch this, it's only a little ways off from where I live and it kind of makes me proud that for once Mainers are getting some recognition for their mettle and their work ethic. And yeah, maybe back in the day they did things just as hard with less than what those guys might have today, but this is a reality show so it'd be kind of hard to follow around people that don't do it anymore or are dead. I'm sure they'll do some history about the Golden Rd. and whatnot. And as far as family history goes: who in Hollywood or in show business hasn't seen their share of tragedy and scandal and have had people in their family that did things they didn't exactly agree on? It's bound to happen to everyone. To single this one guy or family out is kind of stupid. I'm sure with any other family they could have picked there could have been some "dirt" someone in their community could have dug up and posted here. With that said, I can't wait to see it , I love shows like that.

Ok concerned1, this is a show about logging not about someone who supposedly beat his wife. And let's tell the truth here we all have our jerky days. Look you are having one right now. I'm glad to see that there will be a show featuring our wonderful state of Maine. I wish I had cable so I could watch it. Congrats to the Pelletier Family.

I was up in the N.M.W. last winter and there was no place to park due to snow. One of the Pelletier's was out plowing and was kind enough to stop and clear a huge spot for us. Thanks!

Been watching extreme loggers. They seem to have cut down on the BS fights and arguments like you get on ice road truckers. Deadliest catch seems to be pretty real with no BS fighting.

Ali, you may be able to find the show online to watch it...either at the discovery channel webpage or hulu.com.

First I want to say Congrads to ALL 7 PELLETIER BROTHERS. These men have not only been working hard day to day to keep the company running, but they have had to do it with a camera in their face. I don't believe that is very easy! In regards to setting up trucks to roll over and so on, from what I have heard (and I have very good inside connections) eveything that will be aired "actually happend", however the camera crew was not alway standing right there when it happend. That's part of life, you can't be in all places at once! As far as "Concerned1" and the abuse issue, remember there is always 2 sides to every story (unless you were present when this happend, in which if you were you should have put a stop to it!). I am very happy for the entire Pelletier Family and ALL of their EMPLOYEES, whom also have had to work with a camera in their face for almost the past year. Gerald would be very proud of all of you, it is really too sad he is not here to enjoy this time with you! God Speed GERALD! It is about time something good is coming out of MAINE and MILLINOCKET!!! All of my TV's will be on Friday February 27th at 10pm, they deserve good ratings!

Can't wait to watch!! I too have set my DVR!! Concerned1....get a life!!

I cant wait to watch it. We watch all shows like that. I like to see what it is really like to WORK FOR A LIVING. Most of us have no clue where paper comes from, How much work goes into harvesting wood and how good it is for our economy. It is a renewable source. I have seen alot of logging in different states and Maine has a one of a kind way of doing things. GO MAINE!!!

I knew Gerald Pelletier and it seems that many of you did not. Gerald was a gentleman and could be trusted without exception. Besides, he could drive a truck with a load like no one could. I hired his company to do some work and Gerald showed with the rig and proved how to put his cargo exactly where he wanted it and at times have less than an inch on either side to slide through. He did not need several tries either, he just got into the cab and drove through like he had the turnpike all to himself. Things change but his boys were fair and good to do business with. They run a business that is tough with many risks involved, enjoy the show and if they can read and follow a script, all the better! You can't get this kind of advertising, so were are a little envious.

Congrats to the family and the town of Millinocket. I'm so psyched to watch!! I'm very proud to have grown up in that town. I can also confirm they were the FRIST with the double trailer!! It was a huge deal and I’ll never forget it - sort of like where were you when Elvis died! Whenever encountering a logging truck on the Golden Road you ALWAYS pulled over and if at night TURNED OFF YOUR LIGHTS!! I grew up with a lot of respect for these loggers!!! But I was hoping to see the most famous Pelletier in my book - the one & only Pelletier sister, Jean!!! HAHA They are a great family and Gerald was the kindest man ever!!! I don't like seeing the sour grapes in the comments but you always get those who just can't be happy for others. Congratulations again - I will be tuning in!!

Forget the double trailer rig-I have seen the pictures of the triple trailer rig on the Golden road from way back. Now that would be over the top.

To those of you thinking that everything is scripted, you are wrong. The couple of things they said are scripted are on re-enactments of what really happened, everything else is as it actually is happening. It's real life in the woods, real life as a true logger, even when that life sucks.

i love shows like these im glad discovery channel is putting shows of hard working families on tv

Concerned1 you are just mad because you want some of the money

have you had enough yet, concerned1??

Concerned1...... jealousy won't get you anywhere!

We are very excited and proud that this show is airing from Maine. As a family of loggers ourselves, we can relate to the everyday stresses and duties. I went to college with Jason aka "Pelletier"..., what's going on bird :) So glad to see them doing well! We will definately be tuned in!

Wish we could see this show...we only have basic cable and can't get Discovery channel. We saw them filming some of it last summer. Will it ever be on DVD so we can buy it?

sebec39,

try discovery channel.com or hulu.com once it airs :)

I am so excited! Part of my duties during the year connects to the Maine Loggers. I will be taping this series. What a great boost for this important industry in Maine. I hope the Pelletier's get high ratings. This will not be like many of the reality shows people watch with people being kicked off. Rather, we are going to be able to see what the Maine Loggers go through on their job and to see the daily blessings and struggles go with such an important job. I can not be any more excited to know that this will be on national TV. Great job guys (male and female!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just read all the comments and I have to say one thing to Concerned1. I feel very sorry for you to have to share personal information that has nothing to do about this program. I am sure that no matter who had landed this show, someone would find fault. None of us are perfect and if you are, I will be praying for you to someday see the light! What is important here is the fact that Maine is being featured for a very important industry here in Maine. I believe that what we will see will show first hand what Loggers are all about. I have been out in the woods to see their work. I have seen first hand the machines that break down and slow the process when it takes days or weeks to get the equipment repaired. The equipment is expense to own and operate. I feel sorry for people like you that have to go picking on issues that do not have to be made public. I am sure there are things about yourself you would not like others to know or have scattered around. Just remember that if you make the news! I will be praying for you and other people like you that have to live on the negative. That is why our country is the way it is. We can not support eachother and look for the good. TOo many are looking for the negative and ready to put people down. I am not perfect and never will be. I thank God for that!

to concerned1: you know what they say opinions are like a..holes, everybody has one! it is too bad everything you have say comes from one!

So I have a weird comment. Its totally true I am not making this up. I live in Arizona (just about as far away from Maine as you can get!), but I have some family in Maine. See they are my biological family. I was adopted along with my twin sister when we were babies. When we were old enough we went back to Maine to meet our biological mother's side of the family but have not yet met our biological father's side. The only thing we know is a name that was given to us by our mother's side: Robbie Pellitier. This news story came to me from a friend who knows I have been searching for the Pelletier family that I am related to. I know this may not be them, and my sister and I are certainly not looking for any monetary ties. We would just really like to meet this side of the family before it is too late.

If anyone reading this knows a Robbie Pelletier (connected to this story or not) that had a similar situation about 24 years ago please respond with how I may contact you or him.

While the triples were exciting to watch come down the Golden Road, they were not economically feasible as it took too long to manage a load that size on the corners of the road.

Staged or not, it'll be nice to show those who are rabidly (notice I didn't say "responsibly") concerned with saving a tree, how this kind of work provides jobs. Everytime I receive and email that asks me to "Save a tree, think before you print this!" I want to sign mine with "Save a paper mill, logging worker, and the businesses they patronize - print this!"

I have had the pleasure of getting to know the Pelletier family over the last year. And I have never encountered a person, let alone an entire family & staff that have a stronger work ethic. I can't think of anyone who deserves recognition any more than they do. Also, it has been great for the local economy and I think people should recognize this opportunity for what it is.

Congratulations!

OH GREAT! We get to watch people cut wood. Real educational. AYUH, we cut wood with a saw. Go to Oregon where the real loggers are.

LOL Fly fishing because one disagrees with what you have to say makes them an a hole? Last time I checked we still lived in a free society bud. I suggest if you dont like whats being blogged that you get your rocks off in another forum.

I'm really happy to hear that this show is being done. I bet it's going to be a great program. I remember posing a concept similar to Eldon one time when we first brought local programing to the cable channel. I thought it would have been a great pilot idea for a type of television now quite popular, and that we all get to start enjoying at 10 on Friday. He laughed at me then, but I'm really happy that someone followed through on a good idea, and a kind, hard working Maine family. I hope they get as famous as the captains of Deadliest Catch, and that lots of people travel to the area soon to be well promoted in the show.

I cant wait to watch this show. My father was a wood cutter in that area years ego and watching this show will make me remember that he was part of this life.

Hey concerned1, lets dig up some dirt on you and your family...if you have one...see if that will bring up the ratings in Maine!

GLAD to hear that there are doing a show about the Pelletier Boys..They are a great bunch of men and would help you out in a minute. Been there done that..

concerned1: you must have a real problem trying to see the positive things in life, like this story...because everything you comment on is soooo negative that you sound like a disgruntled mill worker and isn't smart enough to get past it!

Hey FishBoston, bet your busy saving the world.......what have you done to contribute to the great State of Maine, moved to Maine?? What are you using when you go to the bathroom...or do you! What a way to contribute to the great State of Maine......blog negatives....how about moving to Oregon??

timber123 the way you talk if the Pelletier boys left the woods tomorrow no one would have any toilet paper but that isn't exactly true there are plenty of other companies in the woods up here.

They chose to do the show knowing that they would get some negatives...they aren't saints for crying out loud! They have made mistakes, as have I, difference is I didn't chose to put my family on TV and expose them to public scrutiny. This is a good thing for the area and the state as a whole...but seriously you really expected to get out of it with out any dirty laundry being aired?

timber123, nope, not moved here, born here, raised here, live on the ocean. Work the sea for food that people eat. Scratch your head and catch this one. What I do is feed people,so that they can wipe their @*@ on what you do.You set yourself up for that one.

Timber123,one more thing. The amount of revanue from the fishing industry, far exceed the amount of revenue from the logging industry. So therefor I ask you,"What have you done to contribute to the great state of Maine"? But either way both our products are needed for proper health and hygeine. Mine being for proper health. Timber123,buddy,you need to get up a little more earlier, because you have lost this one.

Timber123- You have been SLAMMED!

Well FISHBOSTON, I guess you think you're quite the Savior of our Green Earth. How often do you have lunch with Al Gore to discuss how we Northerners just can't manage to do anything right? Thank goodness for people like you who are around to save us. Want to come spend a few weeks of an ice storm power outage with us? Or just plain work through MUD SEASON - FOR FREE?

Having moved away from Millinocket seven years ago, after growing up and raising my family there. I must say I am proud to have known the Pelletier family and their children. Their work ethic and their family closeness is a tribute to what we all should strive for. Folks should remember that unless their own life is spotlessly clean, throw no stones. These people deserve only accolades for the way that they have worked together from the tiniest child, to the largest man to build the life that they have today. And, it hasn't been always been an easy task; many hard, long and cold hours for the men and boys and lonely hours for wives and kids waiting at home. I applaud you all. And we will be waiting proudly to watch the folks we know, love and respect tomorrow night. Congratulations to you all.

Congratulations! to the Pelletier Family Gerald would be proud! I am looking forward to watching the show . To all of you with the negative comments, these guys deserve your respect. I've worked with them in the past and I know you couldn't find a better crew to work with!

Sure am glad I ruffled a few feathers...Jennifer, I bet you still use leaves....from Oregon...I never loose to a bunch of idiots, especially if they don't know how to use a chain saw....Ayuh.....by the way...the show isn't about chainsaws....Its about making a living, but I guess you all are living off the State of MAINE! Not lost this one yet, Lets all go fishing!! Go ahead slamm the negatives.....................get a Life Bonehead. I own You Jennifer and Fishbone! Watch what you are saying...............on this blog

timber123 FYI I grew up in those woods you cut on. I know how to use a chainsaw....NO BODY OWNS me thanks anyway. YOU should watch what you are saying. Last I knew I lived in the USA and there is a thing it's called freedom of speech. I am free to write what ever I want on this blog and any other that I chose to participate in. FYI you certainly do not scare me with your idle chatter...grow up. Your spewing makes me want to dig deeper so keep it up and we will see what happens then.

Again I will say the Pelletier's chose to put themselves in the public eye. Their dirty laundry is bound to come out some day....

Well done Pelletier Boys and family!! We will be watching tomorrow night with pride from the Scootic!

Jennifer, if you have time to mouth off about dirty laundry, perhaps you should be first in line to volunteer to clean it; I'm sure you have none yourself, right?

I never said I had no dirty laundry. What is it that people do not understand? When you put your family out there on TV there are bound to be a few negative things that come out. The difference between them and I is I didn't chose to subject my family to the public spot light by putting it out there on TV. I love how I end up getting crapped on for point that out. Makes one wonder exactly what is out there on these guys.

Concerned1 has every right to not like these guys and state it on this blog. I am sure they won't be the last ones to say something negative about the Pelletier's.

I am negative because I pointed out that double and triples had been hauled long before now! Check it out at Dysart's sometime. There are plenty of pictures from the 40's and 50's down there on the walls taken on the Golden Road with double and triple trailers. I watched the clip on Discovery and it makes it sound like it had never been done before now. I thought that was wrong and a slap in the face to the men who worked on that road hauling those trailers long before now. No where in the clip does it say it was a reenactment of something that happened in the 70's! Maybe on the full show that is on it will.

Oh and timber123 I've never been to Oregon and have no urge to. timber123 bet you are a bully. does it make you feel like a big man to threaten and harass people on a blog just because they aren't falling all over the Pelletier's? Like I said before grow up.

Morning Jennifer....looks like your loosing sleep over such a positive event for the State of Maine. Poor litttle girly man!!

no sleep lost here. bed at midnight up at 5:30am like every other day of the week.

I really don' believe that Eldon or the Pelletier family are trying to state the claim to "double trailers". I'm hoping when that episode of the double trailers airs it will put an end to this blogging back and forth as to who started the double trailers. From what I've read in the past I believe that Gerald Pelletier and Harold Bouchard were very good friends. I've seen the Pelletier boys out enjoying themselves with the Bouchard family, Gardner family and Crawford family. Yes they made the decision to put their family out in to the public eye and now they need to deal with the good and bad blogs, I'm not a gambler but I bet they will pull together and deal with it. They have delt with worse. Again, congrad so Mrs. Pelletier, the boys, their wifes, their sister, all the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Well said backdoor!!!!

Finally, Someone who is a for real Mainer!! The Pelletier's can handle more than just someone throwing trash at them.....they can handle so much more than Jennifer, Fishboston and concerned1....way to go Backdoor!!!!

timber123, whats the matter, you still scratching your head? no comment. hey backdoor, your in the wrong section, theres anouther story that has to do with the gays wanting equal marriage rights that would seem to be more appropriate for you,BACKDOOR.

Maybe he was a member of the back door boys. BOHICA?????????

Hey Fishbone, sems like your falling off the boat here....its about lumber not you

It'll all be over soon...and don't cry...just watch the ratings ...then we'll we'll all go fish'n...and feed the world!!!!!

The Pelletiers are good people and hard workers like the rest of us, i grew up in the Magic City of Millinocket and since have been living on the west coast. Its really cool to see a part of home and some of the friends you grew up with on TV. Congrats to the Pelletier Family and the Magic City for getting put on the map. Cant wait for the show, i have told everyone I know to watch.

BONE CRUSHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I AM THE BOSS OUT HERE-AH

lol maine

Great Show.

captian_obvious, kingofmaine... we should get bone crusher to kick your stupid azz.

I did watch the show last night. Great show.I love it, even if i do not know the Pelletier personaly.

Did you notice how this guys are build i'm sure they are not effraid of anything.

So I just sat here and read every comment (all 98) and really people, do we have to sit here and say all this. Cant we just say "Hey im excited for the show; Congrats guys" Yes some stuff is 'reinacted' but my father is Brian Nutting 'the Bone crusher' and they asked him to read a script and he said he wouldn't because it wouldn't be what he knows about the golden road or how he feels. Everyone needs to stop bashing each other and thier opinions and just watch the show. I'm 18 and im not sitting here fighting with people on BDN's comment page. aren't you all adults on here? I watched the show with my parents at the river drivers and i absolutly loved it and im very proud of my dad and the Pelletiers.

Lil_Bone, Figure there is Always going to be some people that HAVE to post negitive things on these boards I have watched both episodes and definitely will watch all of them. You should be proud of your father, he doesnt need a script, he tells it like it is. The production of this show is great, showing what real hard work it is and for showing a great Maine family and the business they all work so hard for. Hope it gets renewed for a new season. One thing they could do, to keep the tree huggers happy..put a segment in showing about how they replant. Maybe then everyone would be happy

I caledl there from West Virginia and a woman answered the phone. Why isn't she in the show?

I like the show. The narrator really puts the drama in the show.

I posted this a while back but I think there has been a pretty dominant thread between a couple of people and I'm not sure if anyone would have had the chance to see it so I am posting it again just in case:
