2nd robbery suspect arrested

HARTLAND — A second man has been arrested on Class A robbery charges following an armed home invasion on Route 23 earlier this month.

Police went to a Route 152 home in Hartland about 2 a.m. Thursday after receiving information that David A. McGregor Jr., 19, was there. McGregor was arrested without incident, according to Lt. Carl Gottardi of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.

The home invasion occurred on Feb. 12, just after midnight.

According to Gottardi, two men forcibly entered a residence and stole several items, including a small amount of marijuana, purses, a digital camera and an IPod. The camera and IPod have been recovered, Gottardi said. The men used clothing to conceal their faces and were armed with a knife and a club-like weapon. One victim in the home, an adult male, suffered a laceration during an altercation with the robbers and later was taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital for treatment, Gottardi said..

Later in the day, the Sheriff’s Department obtained a search warrant for the home of Gary Page on Hubbard Road in Canaan. During the search detectives found drugs, including marijuana and pills, and drug paraphernalia as well as some of the property stolen during the home invasion or used in commission of the invasion.

Gary Page, 26, was arrested and charged with Class A armed robbery.

There were three people in the home at the time of the robbery, Gottardi said, and the victims were threatened to turn over specific items that the robbers were seeking. He would not confirm that the victims were familiar with the robbers.

Gottardi said three detectives and five deputies went to the scene of the robbery and a Sheriff’s Department K-9 at-tempted to track the perpetrators.

State Police Troopers Sgt. Rod Charrette and Peter Michaud, and Somerset Deputy Ritchie Putnam participated in McGregor’s arrest.

I hope to hell a judge puts these two away for at least 20 years so the rest of us dont have to worry about them comming to our houses in the middle of the night. You pull a crime like this this you have proven that you cant live with the rest of us.

Hartland Diner Gossip... I heard that they had drugs

Hey, maybe if Hartland collects enough of that green stuff they can sell it off to some medical facility and fix the ridiculous budget deficit they're facing..unlikely

You folish cops rang your own bell again.you put drugheads like kinda in jaill out on baill, that took drugs from other drugheads, thats realy good copsucking work, so what do you cops do with the drugs get like high?

Good. two down, about 10 to go.

I think that if we find out where all of the petty criminals in this town are storing their haul,

we can have a big garage sale and fix the towns budget problems in one night!

I went looking for one after my wife saw him trying to break into our cars, in our own driveway with

every light in the first floor on!

I'm hoping that the footprints in the snow near the window was truly from the CMP guy reading the meter,

but I have no way to know. It was possible that he was two feet away from my wife who had dozed on the

couch, before hearing him trying to jimmy the locks on the car and she ran upstairs to wake me up as the

thief ran out the end of the driveway and tried to look like he was walking around the block for exercise.

I got up and pressed the remote button to chirp my horn, and he took off running.

He's lucky that I was in my boxers, as I was out the door (after throwing clothes on) with a baseball bat,

but not in time to see which way he went.

I drove around town looking for him, and think I saw him downtown, but he ducked in down Sisco Dr,

and it was too dark to see if he went into one of the houses or was just hiding out.

I called the cops, but 20 minutes later is too late to catch someone. They look around, but I don't

think that they were stupid enough to come right back after being spotted.

Sooner or later someone is going to have to do something that they regret regarding the stealing in this

town.

Hopefully CrackGregor will be behind bars for a long time. I hope his parents are happy they created this monster that has terrorized Hartland for far too long.

Wow maetrix, your poor wife. She must of been terrified. I hope she is doing alright. Keep that bat near the door.
