Business group CEO mulls Maine gubernatorial bid

By The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine — Matt Jacobson, president and chief executive officer of Maine & Co., is considering a bid for governor next year as a Republican.

The 48-year-old former railroad executive said his efforts to bring jobs to Maine prompted his decision to form an exploratory committee as the first step toward a run for the Blaine House. Maine & Co. is devoted to economic development in the state.

Jacobson, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and former Air Force pilot, said his goal is to create an economic climate in Maine that enables it to compete with other states and in the global economy.

Jacobson, who lives in Cumberland, would be making his first bid for elective office.

no thanks, we do not need more miltary thinking here..... or spending. Pentagon is tryin it's best to stack the decks for their cut in the stimulus.

Maine company does what??????

No Republicans need apply...we need more moonbats elected.

Only nominal Republicans like our Senators can win anything in Maine. Business friendly campaigns are doomed. Save your money Matt.

I agree. Let's not even entertain the concept of an educated business man [former warrior] who might take on the the enviornazis / teachers unions / Maine's bloated welfare debacle / --- and then have the gall to encourage business!!

---and besides who would even speak to him Augusta !! ?? Re-elect Baldacci / or someone Obama wants----maybe someone in the printing field - specializing in dollar bills

I'm with you mainers --save the whale Dude

I would vote for this guy. His company is trying to bring jobs to the state. The current Bald-Nazi administration seems to want to drive jobs out of the state. I just worry the poor guy would be spinning his wheels in Mainifornia.
