OAKLAND, Maine — Officials say a middle school student has been charged with two felonies after bringing a loaded gun to school.

Superintendent Jim Moore said Messalonskee Middle School in Oakland went into lockdown Thursday morning after the principal was informed that the student had a gun. No shots were fired and nobody was hurt.

Moore said police were called and the child was apprehended with a loaded firearm. The student is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and terrorizing.

The student’s name and age were not released.

VERY VERY SCARY! What was the motive??

Yes parents should be a lot more involved than they are these days, no question. I don't believe that you can always place the blame solely on them, however. A kid in middle school would KNOW what would happen to him if he was caught. Children need to have some culpability for their actions. I know many many outragious children that have parents who try try and try again to control them and it doesn't always work.
