MEDFORD, Maine — A LaGrange man was killed Sunday night in an all-terrain vehicle crash on Paddy Hill Road.

Daniel Turner, 46, was heading toward Route 16 on his three-wheeled ATV with three other riders, including an adult son, when he hit a bump while coming down a hill shortly before 10 p.m., according to James Kane, an investigator with the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department.

Turner then lost control of his trike, which flipped several times, throwing Turner into the roadway, Kane said.

Kane said that Turner, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the accident scene by emergency medical personnel.

That's why they don't make 3 wheelers-unsafe! And before anyone jumps on me for stating the obvious, I rode a Honda Big Red ATC for many, many years-even when ridden conservatively I had some close calls and the occasional tip over, I'll stick to the quads, thank you.

OH that is horrible. What a sad end to a fun trip. My condolences to the family, and sympathy to the son that was present. I know what it's like.

-Kevin 77, yes quads are safer, anyone would know that. but is that really necessary?

good call vchapes! there is a thing called discretion kevin. Condolences to the entire family.

Rest In Peace. I used to be his neighbor almost 20 years ago. I was just a kid. To this day, he was the most ingenuitive with nothing I have ever met, and can admit he influenced me as a kid. Taught me to cut wood, raccoon hunting, and I even had some venison. He was much like a big brother to a few of us neighborhood kids. I would hope to go to his funeral if publically announced.

Since it was dark, he probably didn't see the bump in his headlights until it was too late

good bye my friend.....

And i'll tell ya what....thats not just a "bump", but a dangerous obtrusion whether your on an atv, car or bicycle......this road needs to be looked at!!! Army Corp of Engineers built it, but they left stumps sticking out of the ground, and no shoulders. It is a bad road....

and i thought that 4 wheelers were dangerous!
