The University of Maine’s track and field teams enjoyed some fine performances at the ECAC/IC4A championship meet at Princeton University over the weekend.

Vicki Tolton wound up winning the 400 meters in the women’s meet for the Black Bears with an impressive time of 54 seconds.

Tolton’s effort accounted for the Bears’ 10 points, as they finished 26th as a team. Connecticut won the team title with 88 points.

Also on the women’s side for Maine, Caribou native Lindsay Burlock finished 24th in the 400 prelims with a 56.29.

Oakland’s Jesse Labreck continued her fine spring with a mark of 38 feet, 1.50 inches in the triple jump for a 21st-place finish while she was 11th in the 100 hurdles semifinals in 14.36 seconds.

Allyson Howatt was 29th in the 100-meter prelims, posting a 12.37, while Corey Conner took 10th in the 1500 in 4 minutes, 32.19 seconds.

Maine’s 4x100 and 4x800 relay teams both finished 15th in the preliminary heats.

The 4x100 team of Labreck, Burlock, Howatt and Jillian O’Brien finished in 47.27 while Conner, Fairfield’s Vanessa Letourneau, Jennie Lucy of Bangor and Stephanie Jette finished the 4x800 in 9:04.82.

The Black Bears did not field a team score in the men’s competition, which was won by America East rival Albany with 68 points.

Riley Masters of Bangor finished 10th overall in the 1,500 in 3:58.18 while Old Town native Mark Liimakka was ninth in the pole vault, clearing 15-9.

Maine’s other participants were Dan Poirier, who was 26th in the javelin with a toss of 182-6 while the 4x100 relay team of Jhamal Fluellen, Zach Jordan, Andrew Horner and Landis Williams were 19th in their preliminary heat in 42.14.
