DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — A Sangerville man arrested last month on charges of possession of child pornography made his initial court appearance Monday in 13th District Court in Dover-Foxcroft.

Both Larry Daggett, 49, and his attorney Marvin Glazier of Bangor were in the courtroom when District Court Judge Kevin Stitham continued the case to June 22 for a status conference. Daggett entered no plea because the charge is a felony, and the case could be presented to the grand jury in June.

The affidavit filed by Maine State Police in connection with Daggett’s arrest was not released Monday.

Daggett was arrested last month at his Hudson Avenue home where his wife, Pam, operated Kreative Kids Daycare. His arrest came after police allegedly found sexually explicit materials depicting children under the age of 12 on his computer.

The Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit was assisted in the arrest by the U.S. Secret Service and the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. Daggett’s computer was seized as evidence.

Sgt. Glenn Lang of the computer crimes unit considered Daggett a “high risk” because of his wife’s day care center, although he said he had nothing to indicate the children enrolled in the day care were involved in Larry Daggett’s alleged activity.

Pam Daggett voluntarily suspended her day care operation the day of her husband’s arrest.

HMMMMMM... "status conference" on June 22... sounds to me like dude is most likely getting off... hmmmmm whatever happened to FACTS? Seems to me that there are few pertaining to the ISSUE presented.... Why? What? How come? WTF?! I, and I'm sure others, want to know. Where are the facts? Where is the TRUTH??

Sounded like the proof was on perv's computer. I think he should just be drawn and quartered......I hope the bubbas in prison give him everything he deserves.

A status conference is a court ordered meeting wih a judge or authorized counsel ( in this case a grand jury) to make the decision for the date of the trail and to see if the prosecuted is ready to go to tiral, and also for the attorneys to before a judge ( or again counsel) inform the judge how the case is proceeding what discovery has been conducted, how long they think the trail will last, anything else moving the case toward trial.

another one, does it ever end?Seems to me there are more this year than previous years.Either they are getting more stupid, these perves,or our Government is getting better at catching them.Thats my oppinion,We welcome yours..........

Wonder how the daycare business is doing....

I just think they should get this over with!! As someone said earlier, the proof was on the computer, why does the process have to be so drawn out...?

Ravenbait you mentioned that there are more and more of these this year but did you notice the case was also being handled by the federal authorities?

I find this case interesting because ( and maybe it is just my perception) but there seems to be an EXACT legal procedure invovled rather than the usual Maine state/county corrupt do what we wish based on who they ( the offender) knows?

I am watching this case with a keen eye, not to see if he is guilty or innocent but rather to see the court process in a leagl fashion.

First time for everything in Piscataquis County...

The "pervs" arnet getting stupider, it was because this is a federal issue. The federal government acts faster because they have a 4 trillion dollar purse to work with.

There are good detectives who investigate crimes against children but the priority in the state of Maine is NOT to allow funding for such a needed agenda.

Maine is a paradise for pedophiles because of the lax investigative funding and lenient sentencing.

Piscataquis county because of the poverty is a big hit for pedophiles.

Rachael1962...Do you think? What if we were to put these pervs in general population in jail instead of solitary confinement? They all know they will not be mixed in with population.I think we start putting them in population, and they won`t be so common,or is this maybe best, catering to them?Personally, anyone of my family, gets abused by pedifiles or rapest.I won`t need a judge,to tell me what I aught to be doing.I will know.I don`t understand either of these charges.

Ravenbait...i'd take the law into my own hands if my family was touched by this crap

also, BDN Nazis: I know you're deleting my comment

Marvin Glazier is one heck of an attorney. I would say this sicko is guilty but most likely he will walk.

Ravenbait If a pedophile is found guilty I dont give a rats as- about what happens to them in jail...but Maine seems to have a way of allowing pedophiles "off the hook" in regard to their social or political standings and interests...The state and county courts use favoritism and corruption to allow diddlers off the hook...NOW Piscataquis county isgoing to be following the rules...they have to unless they are stupid because he Federal goernment is involved.

I would never presume to say what you like or don`t. like.I was just trying to get your oppinion.I think if we stop putting them in solitary confinment.Let them do their time in general population.Sentence one to general populatin,He wouldn`t make it a week and he would have a accident.Others wouldn`t be so quick to do this crime.

They will ravenbait child molesters dont care they see themselves as omnipotent and get that feeling of immortalness and power tripping from diddling little kids.I think we shoot them but that wouldnt be very constitutional would it?

LOL...

what a sick looking dude. another who will get 3-5 in jail while the victims will live a life of hell. alot of it in maine, why? because the law allows them to almost get away with it, and if found guilty, they get to go not to the big house, but in their own little corner so the big boys won't hurt them. now, that is so screwed up. they hurt and screw up a helpless trusting child but they won't put them where they are in harms way. the very thought that the child

got no protection from these pigs but the pigs themselfs cry for protection as soon as someone says boo to them. that is b.s. it makes me sick, it really does. i am over 50 now and still have nitemares on account of what my abuser did 45 years ago, it never goes away.

isn't Stitham the one who's son got caught with Shrooms in college and his son didn't do any time or pay a fine?

also Stitham drove the boat

I am glad that the Feds are involved in this. Of course they would be, since child pornography is a felony and maybe a federal offense?

The case is weak. He won't be convicted.

amethystshadows , in this country we have something called "due process" as a way of establishing the truth. The time involved may irritate armchair judge/jury/executioners, but it's a good thing to have if you find yourself in the defendant's seat. After all, ocasionally what looks like a solid case against someone turns out the be wrong and the guy is innocent after all. This guy could very well be guilty. I'm glad we have a good system in place to decide that.

Anyone who can't imagine how a purportedly civilized society can devolve to vigilantism and lynchings only needs to read the BDN readers' comments on any sensational court case to understand.

I heard a while ago the penalty if he is convicted for this crime was up to 10 years and up tp 250,000 fine, if I were the judge he would get the full penalty,if they made a better example of crimes like this perhaps less people would do it

last I knew thw sign was gone from the business

spickcicans

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...............................................Jeeeeeez
