Windmill parts travel highways next week

BANGOR, Maine — State police are advising Maine motorists to expect some delays during the first week of June, when a series of oversized tractor-trailers travel through part of the state to deliver large sections of windmill turbines.

The trucks’ 170-mile route will take them from Jackman along the western Maine border with Canada to the Penobscot County town of Chester, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland noted Friday in a news release.

He said the convoys, which are scheduled to move through the state on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, will be escorted by state police as they travel along Route 201 to Skowhegan and along Route 2 from Skowhegan to Hermon. From there, they will travel along a number of streets in Bangor before heading north on Interstate 95.

The travel route through Bangor will take the trucks over Odlin Road, Hammond and State streets and Hogan Road, McCausland said. Because of the width of the oversized loads, traffic on Bangor streets will be blocked at times, he said.

The turbines for Stetson II are siting in Danforth. Weeds grown up around them. No one around. No money to build the wind farm.Stetson II isn't online. Having to pay for electricity to keep the turbines running so they won't lock up. Having to pay taxes on the turbines in Danforth. And hey , aren't those things expensive?

First Wind is hoping for free federal money to build Stetson II. Rollins will be in litigation forever.

Just where is the planning? First Wind surely didn't decide to go bankrupt.

Maine surely didn't decide to bend rules all kinds of ways for First Wind....all for them to end up in a grave yard kind of situation.

Maybe it was Karma.

Stetson I isn't online. Wonder if that will keep Danforth and Washington County from getting their revenues from First Wind. You would think. Maybe we can find out by reading the newspaper.LOL

We saw the turbines going up Hogan Road yesterday. Impressive!

This does not make any sense to travel by road! Maine thinking continues to baffle me. The railroad is right there in Jackman from Canada! Going to Chester is also covered by Rail!! Think smarter people!!! Geez.

Those turbines are probably too large and heavy for rail. Maine thinking baffles me too. Exporting energy now...wanting to site wind farms all over the state and destroy tourism. Close down existing plants

Enron plans for Maine
