Suspect allegedly leaves wallet at crime scene

By The Associated Press

GARDINER, Maine — Police say they were led to a 22-year-old suspect in a weekend purse-snatching in Gardiner after he inadvertently dropped his wallet with his identification.

Police told WMTW-TV that they were called Saturday morning with a report that a man had pushed down a 58-year-old woman as she walked along Highland Avenue and stolen her purse.

When police arrived, they found a wallet with an ID in it that had apparently been dropped in the scuffle.

Dustin Geroux was arrested about 15 minutes later a few blocks away. He is charged with strong-armed robbery.
