3 students plead not guilty in incidents at Colby

By The Associated Press

WATERVILLE, Maine — Three Colby College students have pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from incidents early Easter morning that sparked a campus protest and allegations that police used excessive force.

The Morning Sentinel said none of the students appeared in Waterville District Court on Tuesday, where lawyers filed the pleas on their behalf.

Ozzy Ramirez of the Bronx, N.Y., and Jacob Roundtree of St. Albans, N.Y., were charged with assault and criminal trespass; Michael Talarico of Arlington, Mass., was charged with disorderly conduct.

Ramirez and Roundtree allegedly tried to interfere with a medical assessment of a student who became ill after an April 12 campus dance. Talarico was arrested in an separate incident.
