AUGUSTA, Maine — The state energy office says the average cash price for heating oil in Maine has increased by 2 cents a gallon in the past week and now stands at $2.35.

The price rise reported Monday follows increases totaling 18 cents over the past two weeks.

Actual prices found in the latest survey ranged from a low of $2.08 in southwestern Maine to a high of $2.60 in the northern part of the state.

The average price of kerosene was up 2 cents to $2.78. Natural gas most recently averaged $11.30 per 1,000 cubic feet, on par with heating oil at $1.53 a gallon.

Director John Kerry of the Office of Energy Independence and Security noted that the price of crude oil is up nearly $35 a barrel since the market’s low in February.
