Tragic news involving the death of two young men....agree with pcme2000 too little info here but obviously still very early into this....my condolences to the family and friends of those involved in this horrible incident...

To lose not one but two so suddenly is horrific. I hope that as the story develops we get more information...

Wow this man ran for mayor with a criminal record that reads as such?? I feel sorry for the family of the brothers that were killed, I cant imagine losing

even one of my children let alone 2. I hope they can find peace some how.

Holland has a long history of strange behavior in Biddeford. A criminal record and Numerous conflicts with neighbors and even complete strangers. This is no surprise to many who live in this town. Only surprise is that it didn't happen sooner.

How and why was Holland allowed to run for mayor in 2000 when he had a criminal history that dated back to the late 1970;s, one undated time, and again in 1991? Is it truly possible for one to hold such an office with such a serious criminal history such as his? If so, I find this very alarming.

Obviously, he has some sort of mental condition which contributes to his horrendous behavior.

Let him finally rot in hell with a cell mate named Bubba! And, as everyone has pointed out, how in the hell did this guy Holland think he was of any caliber of a citizen to run for mayor??? Oh wait, that's right! We allow anyone to do what they want--silly of me to forget!!! My bad! I have no doubt there is far more to this story and we will know as it unfolds but I know Biddeford--and it has its darker side like any other large community or small city. My bet is drugs are involved somehow.

With his record how would anyone even endorse this monster for Mayor. He sure wouldn't have gotten my vote. If he would hurt his own baby that goes to show you what kind of coward he is to shoot two youngmen. Obviously a 2 year prison term for attempted wasn't long enough because now he has murdered two. I don't care if it what the circumstances were this monster belongs behind bars until it's time for him to meet his maker.

Too bad the 5 hour standoff didn't end in him taking his own life, thereby saving the taxpayers of Maine 100s of thousands of dollars in costs of jailing him for the rest of his life. Oh that's right, any man who trys to kill his 16 month old daughter would be too gutless to take his own life. Unless there proves to be much more to this story than we're hearing now, I'd say this is just another reason why we should be employed the death penalty in Maine.

My brother-in-law was murdered in Biddeford back in 1987. He was shot at point blank range. No explainations given. I'm guessing he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I think it may have been a drug deal gone bad. I'm wondering if this case may be the same.

I guess you saw something I missed Kerry because I didnt feel like freedom was saying they were asking for it. Just asking why at 1am. That is a valid question. There is a lot of info missing from this situation at this point.

Obviously a lot of you have never been to biddeford. Year round people are out on the streets.. Summer time more than you can imagine, at ALL times day and night.. There is stuff not being told HERE, like the 21 yr old and the shooter have had issues in the past suposively. On TV there was a gentalman testifying that the murderer groped the 21 yr old right out in plain site for many people to see and this is where it had started. They were both suppose to stay within 100 feet from eachother..

Either way all i have to say is that this guy shouldnt have been out on the streets he should have been behind bars long ago.. BUT I GUESS THE FACT HE TRIED MURDERING HIS 16 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER IS NOTHING TO THE LAW THESE DAYS.. It wasnt a successful murder, we will let him go until he is successful???? Oh and Holding people a mother and child hostage, plus all the greif hes given people and the cops.. yet the %^@*& was still out on the streets... And watch even though he just murdered 2 young adults he will just get a slap on the wrist. Something will come of it.. it always does. Oh the kids were being rasist.. I have been to Biddeford numerous times in past years. At one time I had 3 of my children living there. I myself would not live there. And there Are people on the streets all hours, all night! If anyone wants to see what this "shooter" is all about, log on to the Portland Press Herald. On page 10 there is a whole history of Rory Holland, and it's not pretty! BTW, this was Wednesday's paper, July1.

i agree with northwoods_maine its too bad taxpayers will support him now and the fact of his previous record he shouldnt of been on the street anyway! this is when the death penalty is needed. my condolences to the family
