Brooks: Parade marks 55th Fourth of July Field Day

The 55th annual Brooks Fourth of July Field Day and Parade attracted hundreds of area residents who were looking for fun and excitement. Brooks Community Park may have been a bit waterlogged from weeks of rain, but that didn’t keep the crowds away or dampen the fun. The day began with a parade and ended with the music of Don Nickerson and Country Mist and a gala fireworks show. BROOKS, Maine — The 55th annual Brooks Fourth of July Field Day and Parade attracted hundreds of residents who were looking for fun and excitement. Brooks Community Park may have been a bit waterlogged from weeks of rain, but that didn’t keep the crowds away or dampen the fun.

The day began with a parade and ended with the music of Don Nickerson and Country Mist and a gala fireworks show. Riders on horseback are a regular attraction during the annual Brooks Fourth of July Field Day Parade.

Frank Reynolds, 85, of Brooks, the second oldest past commander of Brooks American Legion Post 183, marched in the annual Brooks Fourth of July Field Day parade with his grandson David Boudreau. Korean War veteran Reynolds has marched in all 55 field day parades. His 87-year-old brother Everett is the town’s oldest past commander.
