Each year I can hear the fireworks from my apartment. And in those years it was "Boom", pause..."Boom", pause. It sounded better to hear the fireworks go off one after another. I would rather listen to or watch a compact fireworks show that gives an immediate impact, than something that was drawn out to give the "appearance" of value. Besides, there was weather to consider. Given the option of a short program versus no show at all is the lesser of two evils.

Our first year in Bangor for the 4th. Surprisingly...a little place like Lubec or Eastport has much more to offer than this City. We were disappointed. However, the other 364 days of the year, it's definately worth being here. (jobs)

Well, at least we can all say that the weather cleared for the fireworks display. This was the primary concern in the first place.

Plus, the added pleasure of having clear skies (finally) on Sunday, so that families and friends can plan on some kind of activity or day-trip.

Maybe if City hall didn't waste sooo much money, they could afford some decent fireworks.

IS THAT A GAY PRIDE PARADE?

I can't believe no one has pointed out how badly the fireworks were done. The first few minutes were okay but then near the end something happened. I can only imagine that someone ordered the fireworks people to set off everything at once. It was terrible and so bright and concentrated that no colors of shapes were even visible. What a waste of money! There is nothing wrong with multiple fireworks going up at the same time but they need to be separated by horizontal distance so they don't overlap each other. Another phenomenon that happens when they are run too fast is light reflection off the smoke. This was so bad Saturday night that much of the show was just white flashes off the smoke clouds. In the end I would say that someone made a very bad decision in running it too fast. But then it was just fireworks, nothing really important. Twenty thousand dollars is just a drop in the bucket, no big deal right?

Congratulations to the parade organizers who did a great job this year. There was a major reduction in the number of undecorated tow-trucks, oil delivery trucks & junky cars. I was also thrilled to see that the ridiculous "W" cement mixer was not there. Thanks for culling out the riff-raff and improving the quality of the parade. As a side though, why is everyone so tight with the candy - watching kids scramble for that is the best part?

I'm glad that they were able to do SOMETHING and not cancell. We didn't make it. We were camping in the pouring rain. WET WET WET, but still fun! Hope everyone had a good 4th despite the rain!

berquis we have "celebrated" many times thru the years out camping in the pouring rain while the kids were growing up....now when I celebrate thngs we do it in a motel! But, our granddaughter just turned two and her father had her ask grampie the other day to take her camping...sounds like I will be back at it once again!

Kudo's Greenville

My family and I went to Greenville to see their spectacular Fireworks Display right on the lake. It was perfect! weather was a little cool but absolutley no rain. They did an awesome job & it defintely was longer than 11 minutes. Well worth the drive!!

Camping in the rain is not usually fun but we actually had friends show up that didn't pay ahead as we did and decided to stay anyway... we had a good time even still!

It's a shame Milo didn't put on a show this year. For the past 3 years, they have gone on so long my little ones fell asleep! This year we drove to Bangor and it was such a dissapointment - what a waste of gasoline for 11 minutes of mediocrity.

We thought this was the BEST Bangor fireworks display ever! WAY better than last year. Thanks bunches, Kiwanis!! The BDN needs to post instructions on how people can donate money for next year's show.
