BLAINE, Maine — A 23-year-old man was flown to a Bangor hospital Tuesday after he was injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident.

Maine State Police Sgt. Tom Pelletier said Wednesday that Jeremy Anderson, hometown unavailable, was riding with a group when the accident occurred at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Pelletier, Anderson was headed west on Pierce Road with the group. The riders were attempting to access an ATV trail on the roadway.

As Anderson attempted to enter the trail, he drove over a number of holes in the roadway and lost control of his 2006 Arctic Cat.

Pelletier said the vehicle rolled over and came to a rest on top of Anderson, who suffered a head injury.

The 23-year-old was taken by Crown Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle for initial treatment. He then was flown by Crown Air to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Pelletier said Anderson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

An official at EMMC said Anderson remained in serious condition Wednesday morning.

Troopers Chuck Michaud and Dan Deschaine went to the scene of the crash. The Mars Hill Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

I guarantee the postings to follow will not be get well wishes but comments about the kid not wearing a helmet...

Get well soon Jeremy!!

Yes Erika, anytime there is an accident of this nature the same comments are posted, I agree.

Here's a new take-they should fix the potholes in the road :) And before someone says ATV's should not be on the road-you are allowed to ride on the side of a road for X amount of feet to access a trail, and the article does not say how far they had ridden down the road, or if he was in the middle of the road-so we don't know if he was breaking the law. Hope the guy pulls through.

Good Job Dan Deschaine and Chuck Michaud for helping this poor guy, Hope the ATV rider is doing well , Kudos men.

I agree, hope all will be well, but this is what starts politicians/citizens wanting to keep passing stricter laws on things.

To Jeremy and his family, I hope you pull through this accident with no lasting affects, You are in my thoughts and prayers......

Some roads in the county are access roads for ATV's maybe the Pierce Rd is one of them.

The only negative posts here are the nuts anticipating negative posts. Jeremey, best wishes. I've crashed and rolled too, hope you heal quick.

Hope the kid gets well, but as ATV manufacturers state these motor vehicles (yes, motor vehicles..they are not toys) should not be operated on public roads. Apparently, the manufacturers have more common sense (and legal liability) than those in the Legislature who allow these vehicles on public roads. Wonder what the rate of speed was prior to the accident?

I DON'T KNOW YOU. BUT, I HOPE YOU PULL THROUGH OK... I HAD SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN TO A COUSIN OF MINE...... JUST LIKE THE FIRST COMMENT SAID.. YES, THE HELMET.... HEY, I RIDE A COUPLE OF TIMES IN THE SUMMER.. NO HELMET.. I GO FAST AND FOOL AROUND.... I SHOULDN'T THOUGH.... JUST TRYING TO HAVE FUN LIKE THE OTHER GUY.... THIS CAN HAPPEN TO ANY BODY!!!!!

TAKE CARE, GET WELL GOD BLESS...

ATV's are useless machines, they are good only at tearing the soil apart. Ban ATV's

Larry, get a cluw. ATV's are used for NUMEROUS things. Obviously you just have a stick shoved up your behind.

Hope Jeremy will be alright! I've been riding and racing fourwheelers and snowmobiles my whole life and even when you're riding and almost roll or go off course, it scares the hell out of you, not to mention when you actually crash. It's the worst feeling. So is losing a family member from a crash, which i have. Him and his family are in our thoughts!
