The primary rule here is pretty simple: Treat others with the same respect you'd want for yourself. What does that mean specifically? Here are some guidelines (see more):

She voted with the Liberals?
What a shocker!
Told you so.. She always votes with the democrats. You would think we would learn. She is as phoney as her tarred black hair.
We already pay more than just about any other state for health care. image what it will be like if this scam goes through. Over half, $485B dollars, are set aside for the insurance companies and they are already threatening to raise insurance costs 11% to start with if this legislation goes through. She is in it for the insurance companies just like the rest of the democrats.
lets see it is a flawed bill but i will still vote for it because i may get to sit with the presdent, i hope you enjoy your last year in office.
Senator Snowe is a true RINO
Just take the time and check out her voting record
She votes with the Dem's about 90% of the time, no matter what the issue.
A Conservative Christian
Sen Snowe is not a moderate. A lot of the House Democrats vote more 'Responsibly' than she does. Remember the bipartisanship votes in the House earlier this year. Having the millionaire Sen. Snowe vote with the other millionaire liberals should be no surprise to anyone.
Cutting the cost of medicine is easy - send the likes of John Edwards, extortionist, to prison where he and other ambulance chasers belong. Doctors and insurance companies agree to many tests and proceedures to protect their professions.
Can a new OBGYN doctor begin practice for less than $100,000 in either insurance; either from a company or self insured? How many babies does that physician need to deliver just to break even. Throw the damn lawyers out and reduce the costs by thousands per person.
Sumner, a Maine born Native.
One step closer to Socialism.
Thank goodness for one person who had the guts to take a stand to do what's right - the plan is flawed, to be sure, but we have to start somewhere......and we can, thanks to the only Republican in the entire party who has integrity. ( and no, I'm NOT a Democrat but an Independent and proud of it)
I'd like to say that I am surprised by Senator Snowe's vote but given her recent voting record, nothing suprises me. She is a complete disgrace to her party and the State of Maine. I'd have more respect for her if she joined that idiot Arlen Spector and become a Democrat once and for all instead of just acting like one. I can't wait to vote her out of office.
This is embarrassing.
She is a democrat in republican clothing. She is looking for a shoo in the next election. She isn't for helping the people, just get them into more debt, then let gov't have that problem. We don't need gov't controlling our lives.
An extra $150 to $175 a week coming out of your paycheck is a good thing. That, along with taking $500000000000. out of Medicare. Just think of all the beautious things the Feds can do with all that cash! It's expensive taking care of all those illegal aliens.
It is wrong. Talk to some Canadian's and see how they like their health care.... Well.... only the healthy people most of the sickly people have already passed away waiting for tests.
As a parent we teach our children to make good choices . She never learned.
Since it was reported that Senator Snowe voted this way "with some reservation", we need thousands of upset Mainers to call her various offices and let her know this is a bad idea.
It's not too late, and We The People do have a say in what she is doing on behalf of our state. We need health care reform, but this path will only bury our USA in debt and an even worse system... but we still have time to help Snowe change-her-mind!
Please call Senator Snowe's offices today:

I will be calling Sen. Snowe and Thank her for her vote yesterday to move this process forward. This plan is far from perfect but it provides a stepping stone to change our flawed system.
I am growing to hate the argument that people will die while waiting for tests....guess what!! People are dying TODAY waiting for their insurance company to agree to pay for treatment that could save or improve their lives.
Insurance companies are earning ridiculous profits to line the pockets of politicians and buy the votes to support their money addiction. People who are against any health care reform are only continuing to rovide them their fix.
There have been many healthcare proposals, and the politicians have voted down every single one that removed their gold plated heathcare, funded by us, and put them on the public option. If anyone has been watching the news stories about what they get for healthcare and the preferential treatment at our expense it just makes you want to go postal.
Everyone needs to watch the news story that reveals the senator's and congressman's healthcare......let it sink in....and get good and angry.
Olympia, you truly have been in Washington for too long. It's time to come home. It's not your fault...it's ours (the voters). We have been voting you back into office time and time again. We will not fail you next time...we will bring you home.
I honestly have to laugh at some of the stupid comments above. Senator Snowe did what was right for the country. She reminds me of an earlier Senator from Maine. The one and only Senator Margaret Chase Smith. We need more like her. I was born and raised in Bangor and have many family members living in the area. George Crossman of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
If any of you people who oppose fixing our health care system really think there's enough of you to vote Senator Snowe out of office,I dare you to hold your breath while your waiting for that to happen.
Of all the online polls that pose a question regarding Snowe's vote, I have yet to find even one that supports Sen. Snowe in casting her vote in favor of the Bacchus Bill.
I hope Jock's girl enjoys her days on the front page of the nation's newspapers. Her time is running out. 2010 will not be so good to her. Unless she changes party affiliation, there is no way she is going to get past her bloc of Republican primary voters. She has betrayed the party base. One year won't be long enough to forget; especially if we're all waiting in lines at the hospital.
Winter forcast: Some periods of sun with many cloudy days, and much deep YELLOW SNOW!
Typical behavior for trailer trash girls that never save the last dance or go home with the one that brought them. Collins is the same.
Not a surprise. Our long in place senator needs to change political parties. She does not represent fiscally conservative values. I can only hope she does a "specter" and moves to where her political beliefs are anchored. This morning on the Today show she told us how she "feels". I do not want to know how she feels, but how she THINKS.
peggyrusk...I`m sure you can hear the same talk from thousands of Americans. I sure you can hear the same negative talk on any subject from certain people anywhere.
Well, Well where are we at according to me. Lets see the senate has a bill with no public option and the house is pushing for a public option. Do we chose the devil we know or the devil we don`t. They (special interest and policticians) are doing a masterful job of this production of we care but. Well fellow citizens they have set it up so now we and they have a little time to hear from each other and my prediction is that the masses are going to scream we will take the devil we know. Of course folks you and I couldn`t have come up with a worse plan (devil we don`t know) for ourselves no matter how hard we tried. That was the plan so they could have the production of but. What is the but, well here it comes citizens.
This is a Presidential Address; The people of America I am here to tell you that because of all the conflict and all the manure that has been spread and the fact that most public input of the people would rather have the devil we know, I have no choice but to tell you that at this time we have been unable to come to a consenses on a Healthcare Bill. I President Obama will not stop trying to get the people a healthcare plan and after mid-term elections we can possible try again if the climate is right. Does the Bill and Hillary era ring a bell?
So citizens now we get to see if they are going to come up with Tort reform, regulations to control the insurance corp. and pharmo. corp. etc.. Not sure about how that is going to shake out, but in the mean time we have countries threatening us with possible atomic weapons, missles, the middle east in a complete uproar and the whole country holding its breath on what the President is going or not going to do. People are in an uproar on the taxes we are paying. We don`t know what to do about illegal immagration. Well folks here it comes again. It is now Nov 2211.
This is a Presidential re-election promise if you vote for me for another term I promise you that if you re-elect me, I will get you the healthcare plan that you need.
One can only imagine what it is like to be a Senator from a little ole state that alot of American Citizens wonder if we even have electricity above Augusta, being on the National News every night looking all so powerful. Sen Snowe is so full of herself how can we expect the poor women to care about what we care about. The woman can do no wrong in the minds of the uninformed.
I am glad to see that Obama kept his promise about raising taxes. This program stinks from the word go. Mandatory Ins. and where on earth are the people that are unemployed going to get the money to pay for it. Sen. Snowe is nothing more than a Democrat and she proves it on every vote. Why do people vote her into office everytime she up for reelection, its time to replace her with someone that will do what the people want, not there own agenda. The program don't start for years, but the collecting of taxes and cuts in medicare start right off. I hope that Sen. Snowe will change her mind before the final vote or maybe she looking for another dinner at the white house.
Snowe's vote is a brilliant move. It will make the Democrats beholden to her. Any amendment she submits to the health care bill will be guaranteed. This will help the small business's (sole proprietors and family businesses that are not incorporated) of Maine who are not allowed to itemize their health insurance costs as a business expense. Today we need to think in terms of a regulated national health monopoly made up of a few health insurance companies, not the balkanized state-by-state regulations we have today. Individuals should be able to subscribe to plans that fit their need and concerns. Moving health care to the national level is more cost effective, allowing for regulated yet competitive health insurance companies provides checks and balances. Please remember that while we have a responsibility for our own health we also have a responsibility for the health of others : we are talking about health insurance - not health assurance
Hey Olympia, hope you were planning on retirement. I have voted for you every single election, since I was old enough to vote. Not this time!!!
vote 'NO on SNOW' in 2010......
Good for Senator Snowe! !! She IS putting Americans Health Care as PRIORITY. This is NOT about Political Parties, but IS about Americans and the need for SERIOUS healthcare reform.
I suggest everyone who has strong posititive solutions in getting health care in America for all Americans, CONTACT ALL ELECTED officials and give your input.
THIS IS NOT about Political Parties...............It is about EVERY AMERICAN and OUR RIGHTS............Please folks, STOP the political Rant. Let us all contribute our remedies to this Health Care Bill. GET INVOLVED.
Senator Snowe has joined sides with the liberals in their War of Choice on Choice in Health Care by voting for the Baucus bill with reckless and willful disregard for the damage it will do on our health care system, the national economy, state budgets, and our liberty. If enacted, this bill would result in higher taxes, higher debt, and lower quality of health care, especially for seniors.
The bills circulating in Congress contain several poisonous provisions that would violate the individual rights of patients, doctors, and business owners on a massive scale unprecedented in American history.
Any Republican who votes for this kind of immoral, unconstitutional, fiscally irresponsible, and ineffective government intrusion into health care needs to be disciplined by the party and the voters.
Senator Snowe is an unprincipled pragmatist who needs to be removed from the Senate Finance Committee.
Senator Snowe needs to be defeated in the next primary by a principled Republican who understands that the purpose of government is to protect individual rights, not violate them.

Greetings from Ohio:
WHY DO YOU KEEP REELECTING HER???? Notice how much national press and exposure she's getting out of this? She feels important. Powerful.
We're trying like hell to dump our own idiots like Dennis Kucinich. I constantly ask Clevelanders why they keep reelecting this clown.
Why are conservatives afraid to stand up and speak out against the nanny state?!?!?
Repeat after me: GET....RID....OF....HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh,.................... is she supposed to like, listen to the people of Maine that voted for her? I thought she just was in Washington to make "deals", lucrative to add to her stash.
She just bought herself a job with the Dems when the axe swings next November. She had a spotlight on her (liberal media) and decided to ramble on about nothing selling out her Party. Now she won't have to worry about getting capaign contributions because she knows who will be paying her back for making this fatal vote. She talked about her carrer of over 30 years in politics. Thats the problem with all these politicians. In power way too long and end up being corupt for the special interest groups. What did the White House and the Democratic party promise you for the state of Maine. Oh yeah...........it's not about the state of Maine. It's about your political future. Small, medium, and large business owners of Maine...........get ready to dump your health plans because you won't be able to afford them.
Senator Snowe's vote on Medical insurance reform yesterday is a true indication of where here loyalties lie - and it isn't with her constituents. In a TV interview today, she claims she represents what her constituents in Maine want. What indicator(s) is she using to determine this? How can she claim that she represents her constituents when this bill will do nothing but cost us all dearly - so much so that even sitting on the Finance Committee she does not know, nor can she tell us accurately how much this will cost us all going forward. The added costs are so far off the chart that most of her constituents can't even write out the number(s) correctly. All we know is that each of us will pay dearly, but small business, the life blood of our economy in this state and country, where two-thirds of jobs are created and exist with this vote is being condemed to much harder times and failure. How can she not see this? She has just made life in Maine that much harder for her constituents, especially small business and Maine's senior citzens. We need to let her know NOW of our displeasure with her recent vote, and more importantly, make her aware of our true wishes as she faces upcoming votes on this matter. She has definitely gone too far - in the wrong direction. All I can say is that she has been in D.C. too long. It is time for we, the voters, to make our voices heard through the way we cast our next vote - November 2010. We won't forget this vote. We need to bring Senator Snowe back home - permanently. VOTE HER OUT OF OFFICE!!!!!!
I for one am extremely proud of her. Olympia, unlike so many others, is willing to cross party lines for the good of the country. I would really like to beat my head against the wall; so you nay-sayers are ultimately saying that you do not think there is a thing wrong w/the health care industry as we know it? OH OH, - yes you do, but it will be corrected by Tort Reform!?@! Too much Kool-Aid drinking going on in this country. It is broken; corporate greed once again rules the day. You people w/employer based health insurance will be singing a different tune when your employers can no longer afford to provide it for you and you are thrown into the real world with the rest of "individual" policy holders that now cannot afford insurance anymore due to the outragous cost!!!
Has this woman no shame? I do. I am ashamed that she represents my home state of Manie!
oops! Maine
Snowe is simply a liberal Democrat. Has been for years. Maine has become a very liberal state. glad I left it.
Hmmm, currently 82% to 18% against. Can Olympia say "out of touch?" Maybe she needs to spend more time in Maine learning about her actual constituents, and less time in Washington DC dreaming about making history.
Sen Snowe you are hurting Senior Citizens with this legislation.
Those of us on Tricare For Life (military health ins) + Medicare part B are going to get double whammied with the cuts and increases in co-pays and deductibles. Obama really cares for us Senior Citizens doesn't he....and NO COLA raises for those of us on SS for the next 2 years, BUT congress gave themselves a hefty pay raise and MORE perk money.
This from a google search: http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html
This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

For those of you planning to vote against Snowe, you may have missed your last chance. I heard that she has health issues of her own and doesn't plan to run again. This is her last hurrah, calculated to ensure her place in history, even if it hurts so many people she was elected to represent
Way to go Senator, still a REAL republican!! Since when has republican=conservative robot? NEVER in Maine. Sure there are a few of you wingnuts out there in Maine, but the good news is your not the one's electing the Senator, WE are! Take your conservative vote away all you want, our coalition will still mop the floor with ya no matter who runs! Frankly I hope the Senator is running for President next time around, she'd have a good shot at winning without the conservative vote. Conservatives are so vastly in the minority that they don't get republicans elected anywhere. Moderates, independents, and democrats do. Go ask the Reagan and both Bush campaigns who got them elected, and then go ask John McCain's.
If Senator Snowe had any integrity, she would change her party affiliation. I track her votes on www.govtrack.us, and she overwhelmingly supports the Democrat point of view. She is a disgrace, and needs to be replaced. If she runs for reelection, I will work tirelessly for her defeat. If she can't be honest in her party affiliation, then she can't be trusted, period.
I believe that the so-called health care reform bills that are being discussed in Congress are not only immoral and dishonest... they are also unconstitutional. It's time we take our country back! My husband and I marched in DC on September 12. What a marvelous, diverse group of Patriots.... sharing a love of country. Senators Snowe and Collins will get a message when they find many of their colleagues out looking for honest jobs after the 2010 elections. Handwriting on the wall, Senators. Wise up, or pack up!
Fed up to HERE and NOT going to take it any more.
Karen in Steuben
There has been a lot of lies told about the possibility Americans will finally receive something akin to good universal health care.
I can understand those who are against Snowe's vote to provide it. These people have always been self-destructive ... many of them probably believe the world will end on 21 December 2012 (per Mayan Calendar "prediction") ... that's cool.
Intelligent leaders, such as Olympia Snowe and those in the rest of the industrialized world, know that their society cannot continue unless the people who do the work -- and/or defend the nation -- are the healthiest they can be. Making corporate executives rich, and giving high school drop-outs the right to deny necessary or recommented medical services, does not improve the nation -- free, or nearly free, timely medical care does.
THREE CHEERS FOR SNOWE! She placed the future of America over those who would see its people die.
The health care reform bills are immoral and dishonest????? The HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES are immoral and dishonest!!!!!!!
Jeffrey - I don't hold a lot of stock in polls.... Who has been voting on this this morning? I'm sure the MAJORITY are welfare recips (worried it might cut into to their handouts), retiree's and seniors (who are worried it's going to cut into their Medicare) and haters (who have nothing better to do with their time). I get the impression that a lot people seem to think that the world is black and white - couldn't be further from the truth in my opinion. Since when is ONE party ALWAYS right and the other party ALWAYS wrong? Stop thinking party lines and think AMERICAN, where is should be considered IMMORAL for people not to be able to have AFFORDABLE health care, where it should be considered IMMORAL for a people's health to be a commodity and excessive profit margins the driving force! Don't expect me to feel sorry for the health insurance CEO's that might have to take a pay cut and curb their excessive life style if they no longer will be able to bilk and bully the American people unchecked!
I'm not sure it's very smart or prudent to take on a large spending bill like this in these problematic economic times. Set some economic goals, say, reduce the national debt by x%, and when that's achieved, bring on the bill.
David889327.... Why don't we ask them to eliminate all the fraud and abuse that they seem to have identified in Medicare and Medicaid? Why do they need to pass this massive health care "reform" bill in order to take care of criminal activity? I would like to see tort reform. I'd like to be able to buy health insurance in another state, like I can my car insurance. There are things that can be done to make insurance more affordable without a government takeover. This is a power grab, and it has nothing to do with helping us afford insurance. Insurance will be a lot more expensive once the government takes over. They'll tax those of us who buy our plans, and distribute the "spoils" to those who "deserve" it. This is redistribution of wealth, as was the "stimulus." President Obama is doing exactly what he said he would do.... "fundamentally transform America." And Senator Snowe is helping him do it. Despicable woman.
With regards Obama's fiscal policies: "IF" Obama is successful in implementing his Socialized Health Care Reform -and- his commercially destructive Cap and Tax legislation, the economic recovery will be aborted; and, this Nation WILL EXPERIENCE a double-dip recession; and, IN ALL PROBABILITY, an economic contraction far worse. Obama is the most dangerous demagogue EVER to surface on the American political scene; and, it's increasingly likely that he will take the Democrat Party down with him. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ELECT TO PARTAKE OF THE OBAMA KOOL-AID, THAT'S MOST CERTAINLY YOUR PREROGATIVE; BUT, DON'T DISPARAGE THOSE OF US WHO ARE ALARMED AT THE INCIPIENT DAMAGE BEING WROUGHT ON OUR CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC BY AN EXTREME LEFT-WING MARXIST RADICAL; and, belay the "racism" nonsense. Greg Neubeck
This President has done more damage in 9 months than all the other presidents in our history! He's a dangerous man surrounded by dangerous puppets. Be vigilant, America. Get on the phone, write letters. Make alot of noise or we are doomed.
So far 81% of Olympia's constituents think she voted wrong.
Olympia is nothing but a RINO. She only cares about herself. I am sure that Obama has made her some promise. We will find out what it is soon. It is time for everyone to stand up and let your voice be heard. Come to the State House on November 7, 2009 from 11:00am - 3:00 pm for a One year notice Rally/ Tea Party. So that we can tell Augusta that we will be silent NO MORE!
For more information go to www.PaintMaineRed.com
Senator Olympia Snowe is still very much a Republican....as is William Cohen....as is Colin Powell. etc. Not all Republicans are extreme right wingers.....thankfully!
Thank you, Senator Snowe, for not worrying about how this will impact you (politically) but instead, how this will impact those who are currently without affordable healthcare .
Sen Snowe was orphaned at age 6 and raised by her hardworking aunt and uncle who already had a large family and not a lot of money. Senator Snowe's first husband, Peter, a legislator was killed young in a car accident. Senator Snowe took over his seat. She remarried, John McKernon, formerly Maine Governor. They have a happy and respectful marriage. He lost his only child who died of a heart attack while in college. This is a woman who worked hard to get to where she is and is a dedicated , honest, hard-working Senator. Some of the commentors here should have done anywhere near as much in their lives as this woman..... One does not have to agree with her votes and her policy positions, but you show your true colors when you downgrade a person of her caliber.
re 11:55 Oh, I very much doubt you have the truth there. There is much to contradict what you hope to be the case there.
Olympia is not a phoney! Most right wingers are phony and less then human. They don't care about the majority of the people just their prescious insurance companies and corporations.
Adelaide...You go get`em you da man/women and every other person that knows what Wake up America means.
chersully2000...I think I remember you have stated you are a women. I challenge you to look in the mirrow and make sure you are not being bias because Snowe and Collins are women. I have noticed this alot and also explains why she gets re-elected as the womens vote the last time I knew was around 50% of the country. Also your bias to support a minority group which there is nothing wrong with might be blinding you to what must be obvious to you that alot more people are seeing that we need to work together to get what we need no matter what party you are from. The vast majority of the people as you know are not extreme right or left, but the anger that this destructive behavior is causing is just feeding into the special interest groups that are leading us around by the nose.
I still say that both houses and both sides plans are a win win for the status quo, that would be a great way to hedge your bet now wouldn`t it. The freakin thieving goes from the extreme right all the way to the extreme left. The real people that have woke up are the ones that have wiped the manure out of the eyes and are speaking up. You might call them the Wake Up America Party.
I stand by my prediction that no bill will be passed and the real win win will continue on with some mild restrictions that will soon disappear when we stop paying attention.
kitterykid...this is the second time today I have seen you shaking your rattles and screaming for attention. Is it past time to change your diaper??
Now I understand why the people from Maine are known as Mainiacs! It's hard to believe the ranting and raving. This vote is only round one. The House has another version . These two bills are supposed to be combined and hashed over (and over and over)..Not one Senator or member of Congress claims to have read the entire bill, at least according to the news media. This vote should keep the process moving forward. The Democtatic Party controls the Congress and Senate so regardless of whether we want it or not, some kind of bill will be passed. If Senators Snowe and Collins can have input and contribute to making some much needed changes why not sit back and see what happens?
America did wake up George Bush is out of office and Obama is in. George Bush was an an embarrassment to this country.
At least we have a president that is trying to help the american people. He's working very hard to clean up the mess that Bush left behind. If McCain won you would be crying about higher taxes.
How much did she get paid for this vote this time? $350,000???
Last time..what was it? $130,000???
and the time before that what was it...??? and the time before that?
She became a millionaire on her votes with the Dems...
Maine has been punked by the snow job..she is in the tank for obama.
She plays like she's not going to vote for it and they offer her more money for her vote.
When she gets the amount she wants then she votes yes. She is bought and paid for.
Time to say good-bye to her and don't even ask her to come home. Tell her to get her ass
out of dodge for betraying the voters who voted her in there?
olive oil will win by landslide. There is not enough people in maine that get there brain washing daily from talk radio and gop tv.
I'm proud of her--finally!
Senator Snowe is the real Maverick! Forget Sarah Palin. Good for her! She speaks her mind and studies the facts on the issue and doesn't just vote like a mesmerized slot machine player following the other lock step Republicans being paid by the insurance companies.
I was so mad when I heard her on FOX say we in Maine were not in favor of this health care plan because of the ads running this past weekend on tv ! She needs to apologize to everyone in Maine we do not get all of our infomation on health care from ads ! She doesn't think much of Mainers does she? Well I am one Mainer that will campaign aganist her the next time she runs we need a real Republican not a phoney !
If you think health care is bad today, wait until the government has mucked it up. Nothing that Uncle Sam has ever taken over has ever gotten better. It is best just to let insurance companies compete from state to state then to think that a Washington based superbureaucracy would ever make it be better.
