Investigation under way in barn fire

Perry and Robbinston firefighters work to extinguish a barn fire early Sunday in Robbinston. The Maine Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the blaze, which was reported just after 2 a.m. The fire destroyed the barn belonging to Wayne Demmons on Ridge Road.

ROBBINSTON, Maine — A fast-moving fire that destroyed a barn on Ridge Road early Sunday was so devastating that its cause is unknown.

Sgt. Timothy York of the State Fire Marshal’s Office said Monday that an investigation revealed that the cause of the fire “is undetermined because of the extensive damage.”

The fire was discovered shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, York said, when owner Wayne Demmons’ dogs began barking and alerted him. The barn was already in flames.

Firefighters from Robbinston, Perry and the Red Beach division in Calais responded and remained at the scene for several hours.

York said there had been electricity to the meter on the barn but not inside the barn itself. At the time of the fire, horses that used the barn were outside but a number of chickens were lost in the blaze.

The fire occurred during a driving rainstorm that helped keep flying embers in check, witnesses said. No other buildings were threatened by the fire.

Hmmmm. Gonna be more to come on this one.

Horses outside in the rain, no electricity, maybe a chicken was smoking in bed.

From the way his horses used to look, they would have been luckier to be inside!!!!

I have to agree with Tabutoo, I have lived around the area were Demons live all my life and his animals are not taken care of very well. I remember when he tied that dog up in the tree and beat it to death. From what I see he treats his girlfreind-wife about the same as he treats his animals. She is a hard worker and a good girl to.

Chances are his wife had something to do with this. The owner would never have heard his dogs barking because he is almost completely deaf in both ears. And the horse stalls just happen to be empty...in a severe rain storm?

She's been like a cancer for his entire familiy and most want nothing to do with him as a result of her decieptful actions.

She has also brought lawsuits against every single employer she's ever had...always looking for that quick buck.

God know she's burned every person thats ever trusted her...including me.

Coincindently, her vehicle was parked close enough to the barn that she can now claim that on the insurance as well....afterall, the motor just went in it less than a month ago.

I hope she finally gets caught...its been a long time coming.

Wicked_1, you know of nothing you speak of. Good girl?? Are you kidding me , lol.

How dare you paint all of the Demmons family with the same brush. You know you're not "really" anonymous on this site right...your profile can be seen by anyone on the Maineville page.

And why bring up a charge that is over 35 yrs old? There were more people involved in that incident and he served significant jail time over it. Just by your statement alone I can tell you dont really know what happened and that you're going on rumors and gossip...and yes, it was was absolutely horrible, but having rode horses with this family for decades (before he got with his current wife) I can tell you the animals were well cared for back then. Matter of fact, anyone that knew him before she came along will attest to this because he was very active with all the area horse shows and agricultural fairs. It wasnt until he put their care in HER hands that they started going down hill.

She is mentally unstable and will go to great lengths to serve her needs...no matter who gets hurt in the process.

Say what you will...her track record speaks for itself.

what happened to treating a person with respect and as you would like to be treated yourself. Get your facts straight. For one thing the motor is not gone in the truck and they hooked a chain to the truck and towed it away from the fire so as not to loose the truck as well. The pasture door was left open so as the horses had free range and it is a good thing it was or the horses may have been lost as well as the chickens. Wicked1 you are right she is a hard worker and a good girl. Name me one business she has brought a lawsuit against. Has she burned you Kiddo or is it her husband. Sounds to me like you all need to mind your own business and grow up..

Well lets start with Lanes Contruction (that would the first) This is all public record by the way.

Walmart after that (more than one lawsuit before termination) and now God help the employees of Napa (although they're quickly catching onto her antics)

Hard worker maybe, good girl...I dont think so. She didnt even know who fathered her daugher for Christ sake and she's had more affairs than I can count. Naked pics on the net, fooling around with even her own stepson. She is a disgusting sow.

And yeah, I guess you could count that imbecille in on burning me too...although she was behind it.

Believe what you want...anyone that comes into contact with her soon regrets it....family may forgive but friends dont.

Like I said, her track record speaks for itself...and I hope she goes down this time....its been a looooonnnnggg time comin.

It couldnt have been 15yrs ago...maybe 12-13. There is no way he had any mistreated animals when he was with his second wife. She came from a good family, was a good person who took care of most of the animals and anyone that knows her...knows this is true. She would work lots of overtime at her job and still maintain that farm, the a garden, and still find time to make wreaths at night. I have nothing but respect for her and I'm glad she finally left.

The leech he's with now on the other hand,(3rd wife) has had several problems taking proper care of not just the horses, but all the animals.

I know he's no saint in all of this, but many of us have heard her lie right through her teeth while on the phone with him about whether or not they'd been fed. He used to work long hours and for years their care was in her hands. IMO, neither of them should be allowed a goldfish, let alone any large animals.

I'm done. I could care less what either of them do. We were friends for a long time and I regret being so trusting.

You are right, it was 14 years ago. The horse was a year old when I got her with her yearling halter still on her. Looked at my records, she was 15 this past Oct. Don't know who he 'was with' at the time but his animals where looking bad. I showed in the area the same time he did and in the spring he horses always looked pretty bad. Towards fall after being out all summer they looked somewhat better.....IMO, anyone who cares for thier animals would not let them get in the condition the one I got was in. You see that happening, no matter who it is taking care of them, you either do it yourself or get rid of the animals!!!

Sorry, she still had her weanling halter on, the same one she had on when he bought her....it had to be literally PEELED off her face...

Tabutoo, could you please contact me by e-mail? heathen_1975@hotmail.com?

heathen, what is this about?

considering heathen is on his wife plate, I'd say she want to have a go at you tabutoo, lol.

Tread gently if you decide to contact that psycho.

Excuse me kiddo? I want to have a go? ummmmm No, it seems youve had go enough for all of us!!! And as far as "BURNING" you goes.... the only way I burned you was by removing MY HUSBAND form your bed!!! Which is where YOUR HUSBAND was supposed to be!!!! Ok??? So before you go digging in my closet.... remember ... you aint little miss perfect either! And... my husband wasnt the only husband youve been with!
