GRAY, Maine — Early morning snow showers surprised some Maine motorists who found themselves skidding off the slick roads during the morning commute.

In Gray, a Winthrop woman walked away unhurt Thursday after her car rolled over onto its roof on the Maine Turnpike.

Imagine, being caught by surprise by snow. In Maine. In November.

its not that they were caught by surprise.. they know what maine winters are.. however come north and you will see the true maine winter. the problem here is that most people forget how to drive. they think what you can do in the summer you can in the winter.. slow down, use some caution. just because there isnt ice doesnt mean you are safe...even with studded tires you can crash please everyone winter is here.. drive safe. i hate reading in the paper about a death resulting from a car accident.. accidents happen i realize, however some can be prevented or lessened using a little common sense.... winter is here.. allow more time.. all be safe

I'll bet that they were going over the speed limit. Nobody pays attention to that anymore. Even the cops don't stop you at close to 15 over on the turnpike.

Same thing every year.

wow!!! caught by surprise in november!!! we already had snown in early october this year so having some yesterday shouldn't of been a surprise!! In maine people need to be ready for this kind of weather and expect it. This morning in northern maine the roads in some places was black ice. Extra time to travel and lower speed when driving will make roads safer. 5 extra minutes getting form point a to point b might save lives!!!
