Stolen pickup may be connected to prison break

CUSHING, Maine — A pickup truck stolen on Saturday may be connected to the escape last weekend of two convicts from the Bolduc Correctional Facility in Warren, Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison said Tuesday.

“The truck was close to where the prison farm is,” she said. “There’s a chance it’s connected to the escapes.”

The stolen truck is a maroon, 1997 Chevrolet C-15 that has two “hood scoops,” aluminum wheels and black paint on its lower body, Dennison said. The keys had been left inside the truck, she said.

Inmates Arden Shaw, 36, and Robert Fogg, 28, last were seen at the minimum-security Bolduc facility at about 7 p.m. Saturday. Both men were in prison for burglary and due to be released in 2013.

The two men had not been apprehended by midday Tuesday. Authorities have said that neither is a violent offender.

Anyone who spots the truck should call the Knox County Sheriff’s Office at 594-5656, Dennison said.

How About a license plate # for the truck, a photo of it or even better BOTH? I am sure the owner has a picture of his own vehicle, I know I have a picture of mine somewhere???!!!! Why would you leave your keys in a vehicle located so close to a minimum security prison??????

If I owned a truck like that, yeah, I probably would leave the keys in it.

Anyone would have to be an absolute fool to leave their keys in a vehicle in this day and age. I"m not even sure that insurance companies will protect your vehicle if you leave your keys in it and it gets stolen. Does anyone have the answer to this question?

Why don't you look it up, Amazed?

I have parked next to cars even in Bangor that have the keys in it while they go shopping in Walmart, Hannaford, you name it.. and no one in the vehicle not even a dog!

I just shake my head..

and wonder...

This is the first state I have been in that people here are very trusting leaving keys in vehicles and things wide open.. where I am from everything is locked up and locked down. We don't leave anything including keys in vehicles!

I guess it is unfortunate I took these habits from the West States with me when I moved here.

But it just amazes me how much I see of this..

I have been here 10 years and it just still amazes me..

I don't think insurance vehicles will cover your vehicle if you left the keys in it and/or if you left it unlocked and it does get stolen.. because well it is an invite you might as well put a sign on the vehicle.. hey steal my car okay?

tysmom is so correct. Something seems weird about this whole truck with keys left in it.

down here on the coast we never remove our keys. we hope someone will steal it .
