FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Local police said Tuesday that they cannot yet release the identities of three people killed in a fiery two-vehicle crash last week, as the state medical examiner’s office has not yet confirmed the identities of those involved in the crash to police.

Police Chief Joe Bubar said Tuesday afternoon that the information may be released today.

Three adults were killed on Friday after the pickup truck they were riding in collided head-on with a pulp truck and caught fire.

The crash took place just after noon Friday on North Caribou Road.

The pickup carrying the three adults was in the wrong lane when it collided with the larger truck.

The pickup immediately caught fire. The three killed were burned beyond recognition.

At first, investigators believed two of the victims were children but later realized all three were adults.

The driver of the pulp truck was treated for minor injuries.

Bubar said that the bodies were sent to the medical examiner’s office for autopsies and to be identified using DNA analysis.

i know everyone wants to know who and why.. well for one for the families of the involved we know who they were. however the ignorent question that everyone has been dealing with is why.. why doesnt have an answer its one of those open ended words. we will never know why. why can be answered by only 3 people. unfortnatly none are here to tell..

BDN should let this rest. there are lot of people mourning. they finally disable the comments on the article.. however i would love to beleive there wont be rude on insensitive ones on here but i know as well as i am writing this there will be a few. its not right however i guess thats part of life. the 3 victims that lost there lives were incrediable people. may they all rest in peace.. fly high with the angels i know you all are looking down on your family and friends and they will help us through this

Sassy-this is a public forum and you get all sorts on here. Some people's goal on here is to be ignorant to get a response out of people. The BDN can't do much about it-they can ban/kick off someone, but all that person has to do is create a new name using a different email address and they are back on. It's best to ignore them. That's the only advice I can give.

For what it's worth, I am sorry for the loss of the 3 people in Fort and the 2 young men who died in Bangor as well.

SassyKat01- I am sorry to hear that one or more of the lives lost were family of yours, and people on hear can be cold and heartless and really need to think about the comments they post before they post them, just try to ignore that nasty comments as hard as that can and will be. They are just ignorant people posting uneducated comments without regards for the families involved. As far as the people always needing to know the why and how is again about ignorance, we do not need to know the details, all we need to know is that 3 lives were cut short, , maybe God needed more angels to look over us/you, just know that they are now angels and are looking over you right now in your time of need. I just want you and your family to know that I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you are going through this very difficult time! Hopefullly time helps heal your hurting heart and it will get easier, just never forget the great times you had with them, keeep those thoughts close to you.

My condolences to the familes

There's no need for name-calling. The chief is doing his job. He is performing his duties in a professional manner with due respect to the families of the victims.
