Reputed foul-mouthed jogger wants NH judge to ease ban

By The Associated Press

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — A jogger who was banned from the streets of Portsmouth, N.H. because he allegedly yelled profanities and taunted police officers wants a judge to relax the ban.

Forty-eight-year-old Craig O'Brien of Eliot, Maine, has filed a hand-written motion asking permission to jog on a few specific city streets.

The Portsmouth Herald reports O'Brien's trial on seven charges was postponed Tuesday when his attorney, Anthony Naro, did not appear. O'Brien is charged with five counts of disorderly conduct and two charges of contempt of a bail order.

The allegations involve three incidents in May, one in August and one in September.

'Taunted' police... what? did he oink at them? Seriously.... I'm sure if he had done the same to his wife this wouldn't be news (not that we even know the whole story)

Sure remove the ban but tape his mouth shut!

Whatever happened to freedom of speech?

Taunting the police is an age-old tradition.

What's this guy do? Cross state lines just to yell profanities at cops and passersby? He's 48 and turns in a "hand-written motion?" Was it written in pen, pencil, or crayon? Sounds like this guy is a genuine nut-job. I say keep him off the streets; if he is allowed to return, his inappropriate behavior will probably only escalate.
