Alcohol also is involved in Many more domestic and family disturbances because of the chemical reaction that occurs in many that drink it, they become easily angered or agitated and want to physically hurt others, and that's just when they are drinking, never mind when they are all hungover the next day and you have to deal with them. By the way, do you ever drink alcohol? Ever had a "little buzz" or felt "warm and fuzzy" inside or perhaps one or two drinks after work to "relax" ? All pillheads that committ a crime should be locked up for 30 days immediately whether it be in a hospital or a jail cell...when they get out they will be detoxed (no methadone!) 30 days is plenty i've done it myself! So when theyre released theyre sober and should be able to make what they will out of life, hopefully a positive, drug free life! If not, if they get released and continue right back on the same druggie path than lock them up again and again...until they learn. To keep taxes down, all inmates should have the choice to have a job or enlist in the military. I just think that when our elders were young, the way it was back then worked! Centabor, why do you feel that people need chemicals to relax...that is the problem with people today! Go take a nice peaceful walk through the beautiful countryside, hike a mountain, go fishing, hunting, paddling, bicycling, snowshoeing, skiing. There are unlimited activities at your disposal in this state that not only can help you relax but can also help your fitness and well being. If I am stressed out I dont medicate with drugs or alcohol, I talk about what is stressing me out with my family and friends and often times together we can come up with simple solutions to aleviate my stress. Try it, that is what your family and friends are there for, to support you in your time of need.

No, they don't NEED to drink or smoke pot,but it's quick, easy, enjoyable, and can momentarily change their perspective just enough to allow themselves to look at their life from a slightly different angle and then realize that things aren't so bad after all. How many children and there parents have been killed by drunk drivers in the last 20 yrs?
