HAMPDEN, Maine — The investigation of a local man in a domestic violence case led police to his marijuana cultivation operation, Police Chief Joseph Rogers said Tuesday.

A 43-year-old woman called police on Robert McKee, 50, who lives on Ichabod Lane, at 2:30 a.m. Monday reporting he had assaulted her. By the time officers arrived McKee was gone.

Hampden police Officer Ben Eyles decided to stake out the house and was there when McKee returned. He arrested McKee on a domestic assault charge and took him to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor.

When McKee got out of jail later that day, he called his mom, who also lives at the house, and told her that if the victim was there when he got home, “I’m going to kill her,” Rogers said, reading from the police report.

McKee then was arrested by Officer Mark Egan at around 8 p.m. Monday on charges of terrorizing and violating conditions of his release.

During the investigation, police heard there may be contraband in the home, got a search warrant and found “approximately 100 marijuana plants” in various stages of growth, Rogers said.

“I saw one that was about 4 feet high,” he said, adding other plants were only 6 inches tall.

As of Tuesday, police had yet to charge McKee for the marijuana plants, but he is facing possible felony charges, Rogers said.

Tough day for Bobby.

This guy's a blithering idiot.

not medical marijuna huh teaches you not to abuse a women, and think thats all to the story huh bubba

If you beat up your woman, she tells the police about the skeletons in your closet; that's Relationship 101.

so whose marijuana was it? His or his mom's?

He's lucky she didn't kill him in his sleep- and get off with thirty days.

wasn't there a song called 'me and bobby mcgee? lol

Yes, on the song---but Bobbie was a woman.

Not all highs are good highs!

No excuss for Domestic Violence ever!

But isnt that what prisons should be used for, to hold people for violent offences?

Lets stop scapegoating society's ills on supposed Reefer Madness.

Give me a break, or bring back Prohibition of Alcohol, because we wouldnt want to seem hypocritical.

Because I bet there are alot more wife beating alcoholics than there are pot heads.

(dough!) *offenses

sorry, eastmainer, BOBBY McGee was a MAN. Many a day and night I sang along with Janis Joplin on all th LP's I had (while waiting for "Dialing for Dollars" to call me....;-) )

Freedomfighter nailed it, exactly.

Ichabod Lane? Wow! that is too close for comfort. Kudo's HPD. great follow up and hopefully this idiot will go away!!

Come on, we'll be reading a story in tomorrow's paper in which some slick lawyer says that this was OBVIOUSLY his MOMMY's pot growing for her sole, personal MEDICINAL USE, and Bobby-boy didn't know anything about it - OR - that is was the concubine's pot, and the altercation began when Bobby-boy discovered it.

"Yeah - that's the ticket!"

MDIGUY - either way that argument won't hold up in court because I believe that the medical MJ law states that you can only grow 6 plants for personal use - certainly not 100!

Hey this is just a pot growing operation for those pot shops you idiots all voted to have open. whats the big deal? you have to grow it somewhere. Oh i forgot, there is no budget to have anyone check to see if he has a license to grow or not. we'll have to just raise taxes and create a new agency arm to monitor this.

Busted flat in Hampden Maine

Waiting for the bail

With my plants all lined up in the cave.

Wifey flagged a police down, told him 'bout my dope, rode me all the way to county jail.

With pot legislation on the way, seems nobody can get into private business anymore. Pot plants are pretty to have around the house, you know. When the football games are on, reach over to the nearest corner, grab a few "pomegranates" and start seed-snapping. Lots of fun watching the game on a snowy Sunday afternoon. Watch out, Bobby...the wife is training at the local jeet-kung-do arena. She's gonna' get 'cha!

.........................

I pulled my lawyer card out of my old leather wallet

I was weeping soft while lawyer gave the news.....

Said that my slappin' fine is higher than my growin' fine

'cause Almy takes on cases he can't lose....

Way to go police dept! One for the good guys.

Hahaha, those lyrics are cracking me up this morning.

I guess its hard to feel sympathy for someone so dumb.

And as a side note;

Bobby McGee is most definitely a woman. The song was originally written by Kris Kristopherson. Fred Forter (founder of Kristophersons record label) used his secretary's name as inspiration for the title. Her name was actually Bobbi McKee. By naming the character in the song "Bobby," it made sure a female singer could sing it without changing the name, since "Bobby" could refer to a man or woman. However, its well known that Janis was was very much "into" beautiful girls;)

Me & Bobby McGee Lyrics

Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waiting for a train

And I's feeling nearly as faded as my jeans.

Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained,

It rode us all the way to New Orleans.

I pulled my harpoon out of my dirty red bandanna,

I was playing soft while Bobby sang the blues.

Windshield wipers slapping time, I was holding Bobby's hand in mine,

We sang every song that driver knew.

Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose,

Nothing don't mean nothing honey if it ain't free, now now.

And feeling good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues,

You know feeling good was good enough for me,

Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee.

From the Kentucky coal mines to the California sun,

Hey, Bobby shared the secrets of my soul.

Through all kinds of weather, through everything we done,

Hey Bobby baby? kept me from the cold.

One day up near Salinas,I let him slip away,

He's looking for that home and I hope he finds it,

But I'd trade all of my tomorrows for just one yesterday

To be holding Bobby's body next to mine.

Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose,

Nothing, that's all that Bobby left me, yeah,

But feeling good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues,

Hey, feeling good was good enough for me, hmm hmm,

Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee.

La la la, la la la la, la la la, la la la la

La la la la la Bobby McGee.

La la la la la, la la la la la

La la la la la, Bobby McGee, la.

La La la, la la la la la la,

La La la la la la la la la, ain`t no bumb on my bobby McGee yeah.

Na na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na na na na na

Hey now Bobby now, Bobby McGee, yeah.

Lord, I'm calling my lover, calling my man,

I said I'm calling my lover just the best I can,

C'mon, hey now Bobby yeah, hey now Bobby McGee, yeah,

Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lord

Hey, hey, hey, Bobby McGee, Lord!

Yeah! Whew!

Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lordy Lord

Hey, hey, hey, Bobby McGee.
