12 dogs killed in arson fire in Limington

By The Associated Press

LIMINGTON, Maine — A 28-year-old Limington man has been charged with arson and animal cruelty for a fire that burned his own house and killed 12 dogs that were trapped inside.

Daniel Young, an investigator with the state Fire Marshal’s Office, said firefighters found smoldering fires at five locations in Kristopher Eastman’s home on West Sand Pond Road when they responded to the Friday afternoon blaze.

Young told the Maine Sunday Telegram that the house sustained heavy smoke damage, and that the dogs died of smoke inhalation.

Young said Eastman lived alone at the house and told his grandparents what he had done before fleeing. Eastman was arrested Friday night at a gas station Saco.

This I a prime example of the "felony" animal abuse!! If he was going to burn his house he could have at least let the 12 dogs out but to leave them in the home to burn to death is just sick!!!!!!!! I hope he does ALOT of jail time for this, but I am sure he won't get much!!!!!

This man's cruelty is sickening. Apparently he couldn't take care of them so decided to kill them this way ! Have to wonder why he had them in the first place. You'd think he would have tried giving them away, one by one. Somebody might have taken them.

how about the "system" puts him in a house or home they want to train firefighters on, and light it up........slow burn.........what a piece of crap in my book....hope the courts give him all they can by law those poor dogs..........

Animals today...people tomorrow? Be one step ahead of him please. Keep him locked up...GP

Good start
