Maine tannery workers can get assistance

By The Associated Press

HARTLAND, Maine — Workers who lost their jobs at a Hartland tanning company are eligible to apply for special federal assistance.

U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud says Prime Tanning Company workers can apply for Trade Adjustment Assistance, which provides workers with skill assessments, training and job search assistance.

The assistance will be available because the Department of Labor determined that the Prime Tanning workers lost their jobs as a result of increased imports of articles like those produced by their company.

Michaud is a 2nd District Democrat.
