Lewiston businessman found liable for sex abuse

By The Associated Press

LEWISTON — A prominent Lewiston businessman has been ordered to pay $1.25 mil-lion to a Massachusetts man who accused him of sexual abuse.

The Lewiston Sun-Journal said a U.S. District Court jury found 74-year-old Sarto Sas-seville liable after a four-day civil trial and awarded the plaintiff $1.1 million in punitive damages and $150,000 in com-pensatory damages.

The plaintiff, now 19, accused Sasseville of abusing him in 1996 and 1997 when he was 6 and 7 years old.

Sasseville is a former dentist and former owner of a retire-ment and nursing home in Auburn.

miamijohn17---do you talk the way you write ? Nobody can make head nor tail out of your post !!

Sorry for the Boy~~Hope you get Well and Have a Merry Christmas

For the ole Man~~Article doesn`t say if you are in or out of Jail

But you do know what I hope for you and All you Child Molesters

The should appeal the winning. Eithier that or thier is a lot of proff that it actually happened. That is a crazy amount of money.

isnt an award like this just prostitution by proxy?

I mentioned another incident of child sexual abuse that occured in the same area (many years ago) In that case the molester was convicted and sent to jail. A 12-year-old boy running to get away from this (nameless) man was killed by a car when (terrified?) he ran out into traffic. The BDN removed my first post... I guess we're protecting the "privacy" of child abusers now?

I guess there was enough proof to convince a jury. How can people say the amount is too high? Is there some standard pricing that you charge a child molester?

I would for him to do work on my teeth the nasty scum bag

The amount that this man received is not too high. Do you know what it costs for counseling these days.. not to mention the years of fear, frustration and anger this boy/man probably went through. I wish him well in his journey through life.

As for the abuser... All I can say is pray for mercy because come judgement day... you're going to need it.
