I think that it is time to bring back the U.S. companies that have gone overseas over the last several years. There would be plenty of jobs for United States citizens then.

Yeah, and find a new way to give the rich more money from our taxes? Give me a break. Congress no longer makes laws that actually help people. Any and all bills that are actually passed nowadays only benefit those greedy rich people in the top 2% of the economy. If this bill passes, it will be tweaked and modified so that it only benefits them. Doesn't anybody remember the pharmaceuticals bill that favors the drug companies, the bailout bills that only benefitted the bank executives and Wall Street (and if the "health reform" bill passes, will only make the insurance companies richer). Since when has Congress done anything that actually benefits average Americans?

They better get a move on stop all their crazy bickering with other work together and Pass a jobs bill that benefits the citizens. Stop sending all the good jobs to China just so Walmart CEOs can get richer..

I support a job's bill - we've bailed out big business - let's help the middle class! Big business (represented by the GOP) needs to be forced to employ Americans. We need to consider that profit margins may have to be lowered so that the rich don't keep accumulating wealth and the working class person (like most of us in Maine and the USA) can earn a living wage. Tax laws need to be changed also. Those of you who think the symbolic "tea parties" actually will accomplish anything are completely deluded by master conservative strategists. Their goal is to support the wealth accumulators and control the minds of what they perceive as simpletons that will buy any pap that sounds good. If you want a jobs bill that succeeds you might think about shunning Walmart for your more local store -- buying local -- and buying American-made products (if you can find them). The more we support American-made goods -- the quicker this country will recover. By the way, corporate America has Congress in a bind -- if our elected officials don't play right -- they can simply up and move more operations to another country where slave labor is available. Don't be fooled -- the truth about corporate responsibility to the American people is that it looks good in their advertising.

I think congress should keep their inept 'paws' out of everything now. Let those who know how to make jobs, make jobs. Stimulus, my **s! You can't keep spending money to "make" things work. All of the 'stimulus' packages have just drained hard working Americans of their money and the money of our future generations. The poor keep voting democrat and they are still poor. The epitomy of stupid is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. It doesn't work. Clean out your ears, congress, and listen to the American people!

I support a jobs bill as long as I can get a 7 figure bonus like the last guys and gals that got stimulated!

I just need a stimulus check of $500.00 to help pay my heating bill,or repair my 15 year old car.....

Just stop blowing the money put it back towards paying off what America owes.

I thought the first 787 billion dollar stimulus bill was supposed to be for jobs......

What we need to do is Cut cut cut. Cut social programs, Cut corporate welfare, cut congress' budget. They don't need 20 staffers, they don't need unlimited free mailings, and they don't need "residence allowances for their second Washington-based homes. All the governmental "perks" were given back when congress persons worked for little or nothing, now not only do we pay them 200k a year(excluding perks), they are paid by lobbyists, friends, and get million dollar a year jobs after they leave. Bill (playboy) Clinton made 30 million dollars within 5 years of his leaving the White House. Ron Reagan made 2 million dollars for one two hour speech in Japan telling Japanese businessmen how to get around our laws.

The argument is that if we don't pay these people this outrageous money, we won't get "quality representation" Pardon me while I puke!

Over the last five years things for the average working American have gotten terrible, it coat three things as much to heat our homes, Health insurance has doubled, Home owners insurance has went up by 90%, gas for our cars tripled, the cost for collage up and the price of food has doubled the price meat up by over 200%. But the average wadges is only thing that is down ! We need a jobs bill !

Can someone please explain just what a jobs bill will do? Who will be hiring unemployed people? The poor and unemployed? Just where are we going to put more money? To the study of the parakeet at some college or in some south american country? Wasn't the first STIMULUS bill supposed to be to create jobs? Oops! It got changed, to save and/or create jobs. Has anyone taken a good look at where a lot of this money was handed out to? I am sure the study of beavers and the bumblebee is extremely important to those who can't find work building homes or in the construction trades. Maybe if they just said we will appropriate monies for extended unemployment and medicaid/cobra coverage, I could see that. Until these bozos get out of trying to be businessmen of which there are very very few in this admin who ever had a thing to do with business or running a business, it will be just another money giveaway. Heck, why try to do anything that will get the real people who hire and employ people on board. Money for the National Arts is just what is needed.

Although I need work, I don't believe the government (president or congress) can fix what's wrong with the economy...or anything else, except that they get out of the way. We need to get them out of the way. Get engaged, stay engaged and VOTE. Plato said "The punishment of wise men who refue to take part in the affairs of government, is to live under the government of unwise men." And consider this:

** The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. The president and congress have had 234 years to get it right, and it is broke.

**Social Security was established in 1935. The president and congress have had 74 years to get it right, and it is broke.

**Fannie Mae was established in 1938. The president and congress have had 71 years to get it right, and it is broke.

**The War on Poverty started in 1964.. The president and congress have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.

**Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. The president and congress have had 44 years to get it right, and they are broke.

**Freddie Mac was established in 1970. The president and congress have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.

**The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. The president and congress have 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

Do you really think such an inept and corrupt bunch can fix the economy or health care?

Let's hope any job bill means equal opportunity for all job seekers. Anyone willing to work should qualify.

Free money!! YAAAYYY!! :)

Unless you're a multi-millionaire, you probably won't see any of that money.

Well I'll just go pick some off the tree myself, then. :)

This legislature knows nothing about stimulating jobs. I don't know why people keep voting the same way every election. Isn't that the definition of insanity?

The government punishes hard work and hiring through the tax code. Regardless of your standing, just think about it. The income tax punishes you for working. Get a second job to try to make ends meet, pay more taxes. What you reward is what you get. Government rewards people for working under the table and collecting unemployment and welfare. Thinking about hiring someone....think twice, the government punishes that too. Payroll taxes and workers comp discourage hiring new, or giving raises because the costs are based upon payroll not # of employees.

I keep reading about companies being referred to as greedy and that all they care about is profits (like profits are bad). Will you turn down a raise because you don't want to profit or be greedy? Guess what - the government (state & federal) are the greediest. They take the biggest piece of the pie. The government makes more money from every gallon of gas than the oil company or the gas station. Guess who gets to do the paperwork, admin, and make the payments of these taxes? The businesses, that's who. The government adds cost, but doesn't pay them for it. Most businesses would much rather expand, hire, and reward good employees, but they can't print money like the government. The best jobs bill that the government could pass would be an extended recess of Congess and the State Legislature of at least 1 year. Then at least the rules would stay predictable for a little while and businesses could plan accordingly.

Karruke....How big does a business have to be to be your "Big Business"? Lets force them to employ people....

Government is big business, why not just force the governement to hire everyone, provide them all with identical homes, cars, and the like. Everyone should be paid the same amount. That would create great incentives to work harder than your neighbor wouldn't it? I hope that you consider "Big Unions" in that same equation. The fat cats that run them make the same big bucks as the big business cronies you refer to, and they have lots of perks too. Somehow they are ok because they are fighting for you? They cause less jobs to be created, not more. They tried requiring more jobs and it made our products too expensive and people started buying imported goods.
