ATKINSON, Maine — Residents will be asked whether they want to rescind a portion of the tree harvesting ordinance as recommended by the planning board at the annual town meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 15.
Some residents who want to harvest wood have asked for the change, according to Mark Kinney, deputy town clerk.
Under the present ordinance, anyone harvesting trees and removing the limbs must put the limbs back into the woods to decompose. The proposed change would remove that stipulation, Kinney said Tuesday.
The proposed budget, which includes county and municipal expenses and an estimated school assessment, totals $448,750.
Elections will include a selectman, town clerk, town treasurer, tax collector, a Hospital Administrative District 4 board member, and an SAD 41 board member.
