Stolen gorilla found in Vermont cornfield

EAST MACHIAS, Maine — A power-driven gorilla that has been missing since the Labor Day weekend turned up over the weekend in a cornfield in Swanton, Vermont.

The kidnapper, who apparently was not monkeying around once he knew that the police were on his trail, dumped the hot gorilla in the country cornfield to avoid being caught.

The gorilla that belonged to Sandy’s Sales was taken from in front of the Route 1 store the Sunday before Labor Day. For a time, police believed it might be in a student’s apartment in the Machias area.

It was only after the owner of the Ohio-based company that had built the mechanical monkey got involved that things began to happen. Ken Booth made a video and put it on YouTube quoting a story that ran in the Bangor Daily News about the missing monkey. He offered a $500 reward.

Shortly after the cyberspace detective work started, there was a response from the kidnapper. That video was also posted on YouTube.

Dressed in black from head to toe, the masked man working with a sock puppet said he wanted $1 million — then said he was just kidding. Finally, he said he just wanted to unload the beast.

Within hours, the mechanical giant was picked up by the Vermont State Police and taken to the Troop A barracks in St. Albans, Vermont.

The gorilla just wanted out of Washington County. He was quoted saying. " Nooooo bubba, I dont wanna get there from here." Thats on smart Gorilla!!!! lol

Oh...and it was "sammielongdong" who apparently made the videos? Who the heck is he...is that the alleged kidnapper of Lowell's gorilla? This is quite a prank...and those I told here in my city of Tumauini in the Philippines of this episode, it has become a point of interest with the city officials who come to my house often to have a beer or two and discuss what's happening "back home". The "kidnapper" has a sense of humor, and I would hope the Maine State Police can find belly laughs, too. We are all cracking-up! Even my wife and son, this morning are laughing. My maid, however cannot find anything funny in the story. She's a Muslim from Malaysia, anyway. Points well-made. The MSP should put one of their "Smokie" hats on the gorilla and keep it for posterity.
