BANGOR, Maine— A Canadian man was arrested Thursday at the Milltown border crossing in Calais, Maine and charged with selling oxycodone last month in Washington County.

Matthew Stanley, 25, of Campobello, New Brunswick, is charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Margaret Kravchuk on Friday ordered Stanley detained temporarily. A bail hearing is scheduled to be held Tuesday in federal court in Bangor.

With the help of a confidential informant working with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Stanley allegedly was recorded selling five 80-milligram oxycodone pills for $500 on Sept. 24 in Washington County.

Stanley told an undercover agent at that exchange that he could get between 50 and 100 pills at a time and was interested in trading the drugs for guns, according to court documents.

If convicted, Stanley faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $1 million.

He also could be banned from re-entering the U.S. without prior permission from immigration authorities.

A trial date has not been set.

Hey, there goes Cindy McCain's supply. She won't be able to accompany the parachute artist to Maine, now. One good thing for her though, is the price of oil is going down, so the cost of her next plastic face will be more reasonable.

Mrclam....Clam up!!! By the sounds of it you are worried about the supply!!!!!You must NOT have a job, because all you do is write comments on the BDN website....As I have said before in a post that has to do with politics: I would love to see your IQ score; by the words you write, your score is not any higher than your shoe size. You sound like a very ignorant person. Your parents must be proud. Get off your crazy pension and digging clams on the side and get a real job. You really should get an education! It really scares me that people like you are allowed to vote

He's hurt too many people, and he obviously doesnt' want help, because he's failed at the attempts of help given to him. He needs to be punished for his doings, and most importantly, he needs to sit in jail, and really think about what he's done, and the people he has given the ability to almost kill themselves by selling to them. (It is the users fault for overdosing) He's an idiot. He has a loving family, and he's destroying their hearts. It's about time he grow up, and federal jail out of state is a VERY good place for him for MANY years! He'll get clean with tough love. That's the best way. Maybe then he'll realize all that he's lost.

Gee, I wonder if the guns stolen from my husband were traded to Mr.Stanley for drugs....I don't suppose he knows any thieves in Baileyville......Maybe my Grandmother's pearls bought some of those pills. Wait, I was far too polite was I not, Mr. Stanley my %&^*, he's a coward and parasite living off the backs of honest, hard working people. Put him in jail, let us not pay for his "meds", and let us hope he finds redemption in another place.

Enough, we have all had enough.

btw, they never want help, they are entitled and don't need help. He can sit in jail, but he won't think about what HE has done, HE will blame someone else for his trouble, again - he's entitled. He cares not for anyone other than himself. Maybe someone out there knows about the largest home robbery in Baileyville --- The Hunt's, July 10, 2007 - the day we buried my Grandmother. If you do, you know who to report it to. My name is Laura Hunt and I have no sympathy nor empathy for him, those who buy from him, nor those who steal to do so.
