Absentee ballots cast in Maine tops 28,000

By The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine — More than 28,000 Maine voters already have cast their ballots, even though the presidential election is nearly two weeks away.

Deputy Secretary of State Julie Flynn said voters by Wednesday morning had requested 70,654 absentee ballots and had returned 28,956 of them.

In 2004, about 166,000 absentee ballots were cast in Maine, or 22 percent of the 740,752 votes cast for president that year.

Town and city clerks say they are expecting record numbers of absentee ballots to be cast this election.

So many people have reasons to cast early ballots...it may be the "thing of the future"...wait and see. Election day is terrible to be waiting in lines, and what's worse...in many state's...you cannot buy beer or booze when the polls are open.

Well, this is my first year voting absentee ballot. I must say that ti was a more relaxing experience. The line at our polling station always snakes out into the parking lot and it takes a good amount of time and exposure to the weather to get to cast a vote. From now on I'm voting absentee.

In light of the ACORN fraud that has been exposed, can you imagine how many of those 28,000+ absentee ballots are also fraudulent? Will our state's pro-Obama and pro-socilaism/liberalism/communisn leadership even examine this problem? Let's not hold our breath on that one.

I worry more about the republicans stealing an election through absentee ballots. I hope election officials take the time to scrutinize those ballots closely.

Freedomfighter, Achorn is not a Republican, maybe you typed in the wrong party...
