BELFAST, Maine — Construction on the Tom and Sally Savage Pool Complex at the Waldo County YMCA is well under way. When completed next winter, the complex will house a six-lane pool, a warm-water therapy pool and a hydrotherapy pool.

Once opened, the complex will mark the completion of a YMCA facility that opened six years ago.

Although the YMCA organization is about to enter another phase, it still needs the help of the public. The YMCA has embarked on a fundraising program that will offer the public the opportunity to purchase personal glass tiles that will be part of the pool complex.

The board is asking the community to consider purchasing a tile that will have names permanently emblazoned on the fish mosaic, which will be visible from the lobby area. Those purchasing a tile may choose to put their name, the names of their family or the name of someone they wish to memorialize.

Two tiles are being offered, a 6-by-6-inch tile for $100 and a 12-by-12-inch tile for $500.

Visit waldocountyymca.org for information on the tiles and the project.
