2 arrested in Bangor robbery

That's pretty cheap bail for a class A crime. They are already getting a good break.

This is becoming all too common in Bangor. This happened less than a half of a mile from my wife, daugher and I. Can you believe that? Drugs drive most of it. This is why I have my concealed carry permit. Unfortunately this isn't going to get better anytime soon. I encourage people to protect your families and yourselves. Do the research and take a pistol course, because when seconds count, the police will be there in minutes.

This case seems a little weird. Why would these two men pick this apartment and also at 5:00p.m.. Eithier this apartment is known for drugs or known to have a good amount of cash on hand. Good response time from the Bangor PD though.

All criminals are gettings breaks. The jails are packed full and the civil rights people won't let them cram criminals into the jails where they belong. Then you have the namby pamby judges to dish out low bails and low time. Check it out. In maine you can get less than 10 years for killing someone. And then we wonder why the crime rate goes up.

Attention gun lunatics - the police handled the situation. If there had been another gun on the scene, it would have only made things more dangerous.

RickyG how true.. and with Gov Baldacci making the DA and courts cut staffing, it is only going to get worse. They won't be able to handle as many trials.

Daylight armed robberies in the middle of town? Pretty rare occurrence in Bangor. Chances are these folks all new each other and there is much more to the story. Good thing this didn't happen at FREERADICAL's home or we would probably be reading a story about murders and justifiable homicides rather then home invasion and armed robbery.

Police Departments' will always be there for us when we need them. The unfortunate part is the Court Systems force criminals back on the street. Hard work by the Law Enforcement and up in smoke by the Courts. Imagine That!!

Er, Maine has a bail act, all you that want to lock people up and throw away the key. There's also a Federal Bail Act. Remember the phrase "innocent until proven guilty before a jury of one's peers"? It's the judge's decision, not the lynch mob's. Besides, it's cash bail, translating, realistically, to $250,000.00 in property with 10% cash. Would that make you feel better? We'll see if they get out.

I live in the apartment below this one the kids that live there are only 20 years old, I was at home with my son that day dont you think that the bangor police should have maybe evacuated the building first?? I didnt see anyone coming to my door and asking if I or my son was ok, and quick time from the police? The guys were already upstairs for a good 5 mins or so before the cops arrived, nice reaction time? what if when the cops went upstairs they caused the guys to fire their weapons and it came down through the floor what then? would u all have been so fast to praise the BPD? ithink not

Mistamoney if you felt you where in that much danger when you knew something serious was going on you could have left on your own. Nothing was stopping you; don't blame the officer for doing his job properly. His job is not to make sure you are safe first. He had no clue who was and who was not home. Again, if you ever feel you are in that much danger, get out. According to you, you had at least 5 mins to do so but did not and they where upstairs so your method of egress would not have been impeded.

As for the story. This most likely was over drugs. These types of things just do not happen to law abiding citizen in Maine and this type of crime is almost always associated with drugs. This also does not happen that often in Maine. Bangor is not the big city some of you think it is. The crime rate is very, very, very, very low. This type of crime would not even make the paper or local news in a real big city, would just be another armed robbery and nothing more.

I think the Bangor PD does a great job for being such a small department and kudos to the officer for his great response time, even if it was five mins.

Actually, the PD's job IS to make sure innocent lives are safe first. And unless the downstairs tenant had x-ray vision, they didn't know what was going on up there. But neither did the BPD, so the officer made the call to intervene quickly without evacuating the building. Probably the right call under the circumstances. Now we know neither of these guys had relevant criminal histories. Maybe drugs. Maybe domestic. But it's all speculative, and saying "most likely over drugs" is pure speculation. As a matter of fact, 99.99% of what is posted under these "comments" is pure speculaton or idealogue conjecture. This is why 99.99% of you twits will never be called for jury duty. Or, if for some reason the system breaks down, God save us all.

And the officer did just that. He went to where the threat was. Mistamoney was not in any sort of danger but the people being held at gun point who already had been assaulted were. The officer did not probably make the right call; he did make the right call.

Okay, well, I probably shouldn't be typing any of this, but I was one of the victims in that apartment, and I am sorry to the family who lives downstairs, I was not supposed to be part of this supposed "hit" I was living there yes, but had nothing to do with the situation my roommates had got themselves into, and as far as I know, neither did they, the two guys in jail had their bail revoked now they must remain there until December 3rd if I remember correctly...I will say one thing "it was not drug related" that's all I can say. Sorry guys.

Oh yeah, and I was smart unlike the other two, I moved out the next day, im not going to be sitting in the middle of crossfire when I have nothing to do with any of this. I need to stop commenting...I might be kind of a wussy when it comes to guns and stuff but I think I might have PTSD (is that bad considering I wasn't shot at or anything?)

Travis, it sounds like you are none too happy with your roommates. It also sounds like while you yourself may not have been involved with drugs, you really cannot speak for them. "As far as I know" you say. I am curious if you are feeling any danger from them now, your mention of "crossfire" is intriguing. Stay safe, wherever you are, and perhaps seek some counseling?

Thank you for your positive comments guys, most people I would expect from around the Bangor area would tell me to touch it out and stop being such a wuss, and yes it could have possibly have been slightly drug related but yes "as far as I know" it was over a LOT of money. Each day that passes by I start feeling a little better about things, this could have been a LOT worse, but it's nothing I would wish upon anyone. I have enough stress with college as it is.

Travis, again, some counseling might be a good thing. And not to belabor a point, but this does sound like it involves drugs. It might not be a bad idea to be very upfront with the police, tell them everything you know, and ask them to help protect you- just in case.

This just does not smell right, especially in Bangor. Large amounts of money held by a bunch of kids? It sure LOOKS like drugs were involved. Question is, WHOSE money, and how much will they want to shut up anybody who talks about it?

I think I would be more concerned about the roommates and the owner of that money than I would the guys in jail. Lock your doors, pay attention. And by all means, talk to a counselor, it will help. Your college will have someone that can direct you. I assume these men did not hurt you or your friends, just shook you up? That can be enough to cause emotional health issues, and you are not a "wuss" to admit that.

I HAPPEN TO KNOW THESE TWO MEN WHO PAID A VISIT TO THOSE BOYS ON THE THOMAS HILL RD APARTMENT AND THE STORY I HEARD WAS THAT THEY HAD STOLEN ALOT OF MONEY FROM CUSHMAN'S DAUGHTER THAT SHE GOT IN A SETTLEMENT AND OF COURSE HER DAD (CUSHMAN) AND HIS FRIEND WENT THERE TO GET IT BACK AND I DON'T AGREE WITH THEM USING THERE GUNS THAT WAS STUPID BUT THAT IS ALL I KNOW GLAD NO ONE WAS HURT

I was also a vitctim of this crime. I agree about taking a course but it should never resolve to that. Im going to boot camp in decemeber so i guess i have no real opinion about the pistol course. I do agree about watching our backs. When this all happened we were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and we got blamed for something we didnt do. These people were suposed to be out friends.......haha some friends. I agree with travis about the ptsd because now i feel that i have to watch my back where ever i go and i hate it. these people have no life but we do. we all have our goals set and now we have to deal with this. I know that i will get screened for drugs in the military i have already taken test that show i have no drugs in my system. I dont need to defend myself. This is alot more than just drugs. There where familys and little kids at risk and it should have never happened. With a gun at my head or at any of the other victims would have said something. Any hard working man should have never done what he did. Another comment about the bangor PD. I noticed that a lot of comments were made about them not doing thier job......if it wasnt for them something could have went seriously wrong. Im very thankful that the two policeman showed up when they did. Im thankful to be alive.
