Terror in Mumbai — what’s the appropriate response?

The United States is searching for the appropriate response to the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, without souring relations with India and neighboring Pakistan. Should more pressure be put on the Pakistani government to root out terrorist groups there and along the border with Afghanistan? Would more U.S. air strikes help?

It was nice to see that President elect Obama called the Indian Prime Minister. This makes up for Pres Obama not calling him shortly after the elections and coversing with important world leaders. Ambassador M K Bhadrakumar a career diplomat in the Indian Foreign Service reported in the ASIA TIMES the following. According to Indian officials they were scurrying around like headless chickens because 120 anxious hours had passed and United States president-elect Barack Obama had not yet put a phone call through to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh - as he has done to at least nine other heads of state. .... This was perceived as a slight as Obama called Pakistani leader Asif Zardari and discussed the Kashmir issue. Even though Kashmir is part of India. .... As for what to do with the killers ..... The US is better off if Pakistan continues to do what its doing in the border regions near Afghanistan. That may be hard to do.... the killers are also going to have to face the Mossad, as Israel lost citizens also and are not known to be to very forgiving. I am of the opinion that President-Elect Obama's response and his foreign policy team are top notch and except for the early gaffe we should give them the chance to do their job. As for more missle strikes President Obama has signalled their continuance (and also using Special forces) in Pakistan proper if they are needed.

Killing innocent men, women and children in our lust to punish people for killing innocent men, women and children is a road race to the City of Dis. Maybe we should sell a B-1 Stealth Bomber and buy $283.1 million worth of advertising on Al Jazeera and simply keep pointing out to Muslims the stories and suffering of the children who have been murdered, maimed or bereaved of parents or a parent by terrorists who claim to represent their religion. That is if we can keep from doing the same thing to their children long enough to make the commercials.
