15 vehicles crash on icy stretch of I-95

PLYMOUTH, Maine — It began about 5 p.m. Saturday night with a single car off the road and ended two hours later with 15 cars and pickup trucks either in the median, the ditch or crashed into each other.

An unusually slippery section of the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Plymouth, between mile markers 162 and 163, caused 10 separate accidents, Maine State Police Sgt. Sean Hashey said.

“It was so slippery that I watched a tow truck driver fall on his back right in front of me,” Hashey said. “The first trooper on the scene was actually watching other crashes happen.”

Miraculously, he said, no one was injured although two of the vehicles sustained heavy damage.

Hashey said Maine Department of Transportation trucks were called to the scene and once salt was spread on both lanes, the problem was solved. “We had it all cleared up by 7 p.m.,” he said.

Hashey said the Plymouth Fire Department and four troopers responded to the crash scenes.

Not to sound cruel but is there any video of this happening?

Dahhhhh!! There are to many morons on the road!!! Its unreal!!!!

Maybe, just maybe, if someone actually cleaned the roads in Maine we'd be able to drive. I've not had my car 5 months yet and I've taken it to the garage twice to get the engine looked at and its chock full of either sand or some other road-caused problem.

keep sand off the roads and stick to plowing. if needed put the brine mixture down. That heats the road up and melts ice

Maybe if people would not rubber neck at the accidents then they wouldn't become part of it. And I have to agree with "Kevin_of_Bangor", were is the video of this.
