Maine senator lands seat on Appropriations panel

By The Associated Press

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins has been appointed by Senate leaders to a seat on the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee.

Collins, who was sworn in this month to a third term, becomes the first Maine senator to be represented on the panel since fellow Republican Margaret Chase Smith served on it in 1972.

In addition to Appropriations, Collins will serve on the Armed Services Committee, the Special Committee on Aging and the Homeland Security Committee, where she is ranking member.

Collins spokesman Kevin Kelley said the Republican caucus approved a waiver allowing the senator to serve on Appropriations while retaining her seat on Armed Services.

SUSAN COLLINS IS A LOYAL, HONEST INTELLIGENT SPIRITED YOUNG LADY. SHE DEFINATELY IS THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THAT JOB. MR PRESIDENT, I APPLAUD YOU FOR PICKING UP SUCH A HOT PROSPECT.

her concern is not FOR the People??? what's going on with high foreclosures and bankruptcies in MAINE COLLINS, who are you waiting for to correct that for MAINE. the whole country got funds from the feds for oil.... not just mainers...... so you really didn't have to do very much there!!!
