BANGOR, Maine — A Holden man kept police busy last week when he was arrested twice in four hours for possession of cocaine and for possessing a stolen gun.

Bangor police first made contact with Lance Bradford, 22, about 11:30 p.m. Feb. 12 when he was stopped for speeding down Broadway, Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday.

“He lied about his name so was charged with failure to give his correct name,” he said. “His license was under suspension, and he was charged with operating after suspension.”

Police said they found a usable amount of cocaine in Bradford’s vehicle and charged him with drug possession.

“On the 13th, four hours later, he’s out on bail” for the earlier charges and was caught in a motel room with a stolen handgun, Edwards said.

He said the gun was reported stolen in Gray during a home burglary.

For having the stolen gun, Bradford was charged with receiving stolen property.

He also was charged with “possession of a firearm by a felon, and for violating his conditions of release,” Edwards said.

The stolen property charge is a Class B felony and the possession of a firearm by a felon is a Class B. If convicted of the Class B crime, Bradford could face a penalty of up to 10 years in jail and a fine of up to $20,000. For a Class C conviction, he could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

His record has a number of arrests for burglaries and warrants, Edwards said.

Bradford, then of Veazie, and his older brother Lucas Bradford, age 20 at the time, went on a burglary spree the weekend of Nov. 29-30, 2003, to pay off an out-of-state cocaine dealer, a prosecutor said during the court case.

After stealing a van and burglarizing businesses in Hermon and Bucksport, the brothers stopped at Van Raymond Outfitters on South Main Street in Brewer. They smashed the front glass door of the business, entered the store, smashed the gun case and stole six handguns, according to court documents.

The two brothers were arrested July 30, 2004, shortly after burglarizing a home in Veazie.

Both later pleaded guilty to the charges against them for the 2003 and 2004 burglaries, and Lance Bradford was sentenced to a three-month stay in Penobscot County Jail, and probation. His brother was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release. He was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and $3,600 in restitution.

Lance Bradford was back in Penobscot County Jail on \Thursday night, a jail official said.

Now this dude is not the sharpest nail in the bucket thats for sure!

jail sentence isn't long enough for garbage like this.....throw him in, throw away the key, and feed him peanut butter sandwiches...must be a surplus of peanut butter somewhere...

His Mother must be so proud.

ahh, so they were the ones that broke into van raymonds. Losers!

What a loser. Don't worry, he'll qualify for a darwin award real soon I should think.

Why are stores permitted to keep handguns in glass cases that any idiot (clearly) can break into?

Probably for the same reason that jewelers place diamond rings in them!

I know... how dare they? It's like dangling a bottle of whiskey in front of an alcoholic. Clearly the retailers fault.

He's pretty fly for a white guy.

Another scumbag loser for the productive members of society to house, feed, and medicate. What a drain on Maine’s limited resources at a time when this state and the country needs every last penny to take care of the people who really need their free drugs, free medical care, free rent, free oil, free food, and anything else free that these liberal elected officials of ours determine is necessary for our welfare people and the deadbeats who are too lazy to go to work and pay their own way. Give it all away Legislatures, while you can, for before long there will be nothing left but well feed and cared for inmates.

22 years old? he has a hell of record for being so young. Did he start at 12?? Man O Man give him the help he needs to get clean & start really appreciating life vs. wrecking everyone elses!

Trailer Trash.

Why isnt the boy back out on the street on bail again or is he,we wasnt told that,oh well will find out in a hour or so after he kills someone.

I fully agree with Jonboy, but allow me to add something.

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Should not one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand, have a problem with helping people sitting on their butts, doing drugs, while I work. Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

Something has to change in this country, and soon!

This is clearly Van Raymonds fault Bangorian, If they didn't entice this upstanding gentlemen with their clear glass cases (only visible once you've broken in and walked upstairs) then this would of never happened. I believe the government must step in and form a committe to form a committe to deal with this issue of retailers making the decisions for themselves where and how to display their merchandise. Clearly the government must step in and stop this madness. I propose a merchandising czar who will be paid at least 6 figures and have 56 assistance to help him travel the state and direct every private business on how and where to display their wares. You do realize the more you type Bangorian the more people see how much of a witless, elitist dolt you really are.

Yep,the courts keep slappin wrist and the crooks keep doin what they do.I hope next time they steal from one of these judges that hand out these light sentances.

send him to phoenix to meet sheriff joe.i bet a few years in tent city would make him think really hard the next time he thought about doing something like this....june,july and august in phoenix in a tent in the middle of the desert. ha

This guy is a real winner!

How about sewing him into a dog suit and let him run loose in Searsport? Now that would be cold. This animal isn't done yet.

Right on MR. bobjohnson... Your comments were right on the mark. Thank you.

Maybe this guy should be locked up for a good amount of time.

FREERADICAL you're very generous with the descriptive "elitist." I think common or ordinary would suffice.

bobjohnson WOW you are so right.I couldnt agree more.Time to pass a law.

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

Mark Twain

Hunter334: EXACTLY!

bobjohnson definitely has a point with his drug testing to qualify for public assistance idea.

So is there any doubt now,he opend his mouth and you opend yours.

Just remember, when they cut the prison budgets, they'll all be out free on the streets. But this guy already has it made, because of the drug connection, he'll cry for drug court and be out on the streets sooner.

bobjohnson, I couldn't agree with you more! Funny they can all afford to purchase their drugs, but they can't afford to pay rent or feed themselves.

Amazed..it is a matter of priority!! And, if you can get someone else to take care of the food and rent, that leaves you with more important purchases. We will be seeing more of this as we develop into an even bigger welfare state!

Cocaine winds you up and causes you to do crazy things. He should smoke more weed. Maybe it will MELLOW him out. Oh, by the way, Hunter, you still have that BROWN spot on your nose.

Bobjohnson for govenor

BOBJOHNSON YOU ARE THE MAN!!! I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR YEARS!!!

IF WE DID THINGS THE RIGHT WAY, BOTH THOSE BOYS WOULD BE MISSING THEIR HANDS. THEY WOULD HAVE LOST 1 THE FIRST TIME AND THE OTHER THE SECOMD TIME, THIRD TIME THEY WOULD BE SWINGING IN THE BREEZE!!!!

I'd vote for bobjohnson.

What a loser!

BOBJOHNSON- You are on to something with that. I would love to see that happen.

bobjohnson: Stupendous idea! Lets' not confine it to welfare, let's include SSDI too.

Shouldn't the article say he was back in jail on Friday night? (last line)

What does a "trailer" have to do with it?? That is like saying that our families are interbred because we live in Maine. Unfortunately, he will be put in jail, learn to be an even better criminal, get out and start all over again. We need to come up with a better solution. Like the bootcamp shows on TV. Put him in the military, fly him over seas. Show him how lucky he is to be here. Show him what freedom really means. Like a dog that has messed on the floor, rub his noes in it. (I don't do that to my puppy, it hurts my feelings). We need to stop taking care of them, once the cycle starts it is never ending.
