The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a 2.6 magnitude earthquake Thursday in the Down East region of Maine.
According to the federal agency, the quake was detected about 2:35 p.m. Its epicenter was about 30 miles southwest of Calais and about 30 miles west of Eastport.
The temblor was a minor one. Only one person signed on to the USGS “Did you feel it?’’ survey page. That person indicated an intensity level of 1 on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 meaning the quake was not felt at all and that no damage resulted from it.
