ORIENT and ORANGE PARK, FLA. – Barbara L. Chenevert, 79, formerly of Cape Elizabeth and South Port-land, passed away on May 15, 2004, at her daughter Cathy’s Florida home after a courageous two year battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 29, 1924, at Maynard, Mass., the daughter of Burton and Marion (Wilson) Littlefield. Barbara attended schools in Maynard and West Acton, Mass., and Portland High School, where she met her future husband, Edward V. Chenevert Jr. They were married following Edward’s military service during World War II, May 18, 1946, in Boston, Mass. She worked at the Indemnity Insurance Company of Boston and later at Atlantic Union in New York. She also worked at the Portland District Court and for many years at the Westbrook College Library, with her dear friends, Marion Peterson and Todd Trevorrow. Barbara will most be remembered for her devotion to her husband, children and grandchildren. A member of Houlton Garden Club and past president of the Osiwantha Garden Club in South Portland, Barbara had a life long love for gardening and spent countless hours landscaping her beloved home on East Grand Lake in Orient. She was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed crossword puzzles, cross-stitching, knitting and making flower arrangements. She adored her family and friends and devoted her life to them. Barbara is survived by her children, Susan McMann and her husband, Bernard, of Houlton, Cathy Harriman and her husband, Frank, of Orange Park, Fla., Paul Chenevert and his wife, Stacey, of Brunswick; five grandchildren, Brian McMann of Houlton, Frankine Harriman of Orange Park, Fla., Nathan, Elizabeth and Nicholas Chenevert of Brunswick; a sister, Sally Brooks and her husband, David, of Aroowsic; nieces, Jayne, Joanne and Judy; nephew, Richard and many cherished friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward V. Chenevert Jr. in October 2003. A memorial service and celebration of Barbara’s life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004, at the Houlton United Methodist Church. A committal service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 28, at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Caribou.
