DEER ISLE – Cora S. Bunker, 94, died Aug. 21, 2004, at the Island Nursing Home. She was born June 13, 1910, in Surry, the daughter of Frank S. and Beatrice (Turner) Saunders. Cora loved her hobbies; needlework, rug hooking, crocheting, her love for her family and love of birds. She always had a smile and made many friends at the Island Nursing Home where she had lived for the past three years. Cora is survived by a sister, Frances Cousins of Blue Hill; a brother, Rodney Saunders of Surry; a special niece, Colene Astbury and her husband, Lloyd; many nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Merle in 1999. If friends wish contributions in Cora’s name may be made to the Island Nursing Home, RR 1, Box 125, Deer Isle, ME 04627. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Village Cemetery, Surry, with the Rev. Jason Bailey officiating.
