BELFAST and MONROE – Edith G. Grover, 85, of Belfast, formerly of Monroe, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 21, 2004, at a Belfast hospital. She was born June 27, 1918, in North Searsport, the daughter of George F. Hustus and Josephine Tozier Hustus. In 1935, she married Edmund W. Moody and they made their home in Monroe until his death in 1977. In 1980, she married Charles Howard Grover. Edith was a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Belfast, where she and Howard were leaders of the Senior Group and managed the food cupboard until his death in 1998. Edith was a homemaker for most of her life and worked at Waldo Shoe in Belfast as a stitcher. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and growing flowers. She is survived by her stepmother, Clara E. Hustus of Searsport; three children, a son and daughter-in-law, Maurice and Linda Moody of Brooks; two daughters, Shirley Gibbs of Brooks and Lorraine and Merlon Gibbs of Belfast; two stepchildren, Richard and Yvonne Grover of California, and Charlene and Phillip Oxton of Glenburn; and two “special daughters,” Rosalie and Joyce Rankin of Hampden; two sisters, Beatrice Moody of Appleton and Doris Scammon of Connecticut; five half brothers, Dalton, Arthur, Sterling, Ronald and Dale Hustus; seven half sisters, Charlene Howell, Evelyn Heard, Althea Dakin, Roberta Poole, Elzadia Parsons, Carol Shaw, and Wanda Rowe; two sisters-in-law, Verna Hustus and Beatrice Hustus; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Lauriston, Lloyd and Kenneth Hustus; two sisters, Arlene Parker and Gertrude Cole; and half sister, Barbara Canning. Friends are invited to gather 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, at the Faith Temple Church of God, Lincolnville Ave., Belfast. Spring interment will take place at Mount Solitude Cemetery, Monroe. Those wising to make memorial donations may do so in her memory to a charity of your choice.
