BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Grace Stewart Winship passed away April 2, 2007, at San Joaquin Hospital, Bakers-field, Calif. She was born July 22, 1924, in Andover, Mass., to Peter and Ada Stewart. Grace served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. That is where she met the love of her life, Edwin Winship. They lived in Massachusetts and Maine for 13 years before moving to California. They retired to Wofford Heights in 1985. She belonged to the Kernville United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Nile and she was also a Red Hatter. She and Ed loved to travel and did a lot of camping in their younger years. She especially loved going to Laughlin, Nev., and pulling the one-arm bandits. She also loved to read and do crossword puzzles. Grace was predeceased by her parents; sister, Eleen; and brothers, Angus and Alex. Grace is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edwin; daughter, Judy; son, Edwin Jr. and his wife, Sue; granddaughter, Keri Dodson; great-grand-children, Douglas, Timothy, Silver, Landon, Donnie and Keeli; many nieces and nephews. Grace will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
