FRANKLIN – Joseph Michael “Mike” Winne Jr., 26, went peacefully to rest with our Lord, Friday, April 8, 2005, after battling a long illness with a spinal cord injury. Michael was the youngest son of Wendy Ashmore Winne of Aberdeen, Md. and Joseph M. Winne Sr. of Sullivan. Michael was an avid fisherman, hunter and lobsterman. His love in life was being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Michael will be deeply missed by his maternal grandmother, Betty Ashmore of Lamoine; his paternal grandmother, Susan Spurling of Prospect Harbor; his daughter, Cassandra Ray; his beloved sister, Wendy “Janie” Winne of Franklin; his brother, SFC George P. “Rusty” Ashmore and his wife, Angela, of Aberdeen, Md.; a very special nephew and niece, Derek and Sara Ashmore; his many aunts, uncles and cousins. His closest friends, John Davis, Damian Pickard and Joel Curtis; and his devoted companion, his dog, Dakota, will fondly remember him. His maternal grandfather, George Ashmore predeceased him and his paternal stepgrandfather, Merrill Spurling. Michael will always be remembered by his family and loved ones for his vibrant smile and loving ways. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14, with the Rev.
