BAILEYVILLE – Kenneth Leland, 81, passed unexpectedly April 30, 2008, at his home. Kenneth was born June 2, 1926, in Baileyville, son of Everett and Esther (Hatch) Leland. He was predeceased by his brothers, Phillip and Norman; and sister, Norma. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine “Peanut Casey” Leland; his children, Beverly Combs of Sacramento, Calif., Barbara Grey of Browns Mills, N.J., and Richard Leland of Seattle; grandsons, Christopher and Brian; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Conner and Troy; sons-in-law, Mike and Wayne; several nieces and nephews. Ken served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He returned to work at St. Croix Paper Co., and after 45 years retired from Georgia Pacific. He was a member of American Legion, Baileyville and a member of the Masons, Princeton and Calais. Ken’s little piece of heaven was his camp in Perry. Ken was an avid Red Sox fan and very happy when the Sox won the World Series in 2004 and 2007. Very special people to him were Pete and Susan Casey and Sally Madsen. He loved woodworking, hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Woodland Cemetery, Baileyville.
