STUART, FLA. – Leon “Gene” Allen, 82, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Hospice of Martin & St. Lucie, Stuart, Fla. He was born in Enfield. He was formerly of Millinocket. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of the VFW in Jensen Beach, a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Millinocket. He was the son of the late John Allen and the late Ellen (Ballard) Allen. He was predeceased by wives, Shirley May in 1961 and Dolores “DoDo” in 1991; two brothers, Joe and Jack; and sister, Marguerite. He is survived by his six daughters, Holly Johansen of Jensen Beach, Fla., Carolyn Simone of Millinocket, Judy Tapley of Lisbon, Brenda Allen of Portland, Debbie Neal of Veazie and Joy McEwen of Millinocket; two sons, John Allen of Millinocket and Richard “Smiley” Allen of East Millinocket; two brothers, Raymond Allen of Virginia Beach, Va. and Dale Allen of Worchester, Mass.; one sister, Barbara Harris of Mechanics Falls; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grand-children. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, in Millinocket. Arrangements are by All County Funeral Home & Crematory, 1010 NW Federal Highway, Stuart, Fla.
