NORTHEAST HARBOR Margaret C. Haynes, 91, went to join her husband in a better place on Feb. 16, 2004. She was born May 1, 1912, in Brooksville, the daughter of Brooks and Mertie (Gray) Cousins. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. At the time of her death, Margaret was a resident of Birch Bay Village, where she enjoyed visits from her family, her nurses, the staff and her many friends. She was very active at the time of her passing and made many afghans and embroidered pillowcases and enjoyed keeping scrapbooks. For 68 years, Margaret worked side by side with her husband, as owner and operator of Haynes Garage in Northeast Harbor. She and Richard loved their time spent at their beloved camp on Long Pond. She is survived by two sons, Dana Haynes and his wife, Lucy, of Northeast Harbor, and Blaine Haynes of Mount Desert; six grandchildren, Jeffrey of Northeast Harbor, Stephen, Terry and his wife, Leslie, of Mount Desert, Daniel and his wife, Becky, of Northeast Harbor, Suzette and her husband, James Wheaton, of Swans Island, and Wendy and her husband, John Littlefield, of Northeast Harbor; and nine great-grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Richard Haynes; a great-grandson, Jamie Wheaton; daughter-in-law, Lenora Haynes; and her brother, Elmer Cousins. Friends are invited to call 10-11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at Fernald Funeral Chapel, Mount Desert, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Bigelow officiating. Spring interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Northeast Harbor. Contributions in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Mount Desert Nursery School, P.O.
