VAN BUREN – Marguerite M. Smith, 91, died Sept. 25, 2005, at a Caribou hospital. She was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Van Buren, the daughter of Albert C. and Annie (Sirois) Madore. She was a 1932 graduate of Sacred Heart High School and operated a dress shop in Van Buren known as ‘Chez Marguerite’ for a few years in the 1940’s. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Evangeline Circle, Daughters of Isabella and American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 49 of Van Buren. She was also a former member of the Van Buren Lioness Club. She is survived by two sons, Peter Smith and his wife, Doda, of Hamlin and David Smith and his wife, Charlene, of Palm Bay, Fla.; one daughter, Susan A. Deschaine and her husband, Michael, of Palm Bay, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Philip Smith of Florida, Derek Smith of Venezuela, Brianna Zieke of Chicago, Ill., Samuel Smith of Florida, Justin Smith, U.S. Army, stationed in Iraq, Kathryn and Brent Deschaine, both of Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Smith in 1981. Relatives and friends may call noon until time of service Wednesday at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 3 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery.
