STETSON – Mildred May Amsden Wragg, beloved wife of the late John Wragg Sr., died Oct. 20, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare facility, with her son and daughter by her side. She was born Nov. 10, 1917, in Claremont, N.H., to Gertrude and Chester Amsden. Millee had many jobs in her life including insurance agent, teacher’s aide, factory worker and several others. When she was younger, she belonged to Philathea, a ladies’ aid society in Fiskeville, R.I. and also belonged to the Fiskeville Tabernacle Church. She was a dedicated homemaker, she enjoyed crocheting and painting on slates, was very creative and artistic, and was writing a novel before her last illness. She loved people and was always upbeat and steadfastly optimistic and cheerful, in spite of the many upheavals and troubles in her life. She endured pain, sadness and setbacks with fortitude and never lost hope in the future. She is survived by three children, John Langford and his wife, Annette, in Dunellon, Fla., Wil Langford of Dixmont and Lil Langford and her husband, Tom Maher, of Stetson; several stepchildren, John, Paul and Ricky Wragg and their spouses, all of Rhode Island, Ernest Wragg and his wife and Becky Bonenfant and her husband, all of Florida; a loving grandmother to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Helen Fairbank of Carpenteria, Calif., Lawrence Amsden and his wife, Ivy, Muriel Fessler and Marion Picard, all of Florida. She was predeceased by her brothers, Fayette, Lincoln and Chester. She is survived by many nieces and nephews in Rhode Island, Florida and several other states. In Maine, where she made her home for the last eight years, she had five special grandchildren and a great-grandchild, Jamie and Jesse Langford and Jesse’s son, Jesse, Alf Maher and Mike and Tara Langford. Millee will also be missed by her church family at the Harvest Chapel of Levant, where she enjoyed Pastor Steve’s sermons and eating supper with Audrey, Priscilla, Suzanne and all the other people who did so much to support her, physically and emotionally. Millee requested that her ashes and those of her husband, John, be interred in Rhode Island at a later date. She requested that there be no service, but those who wish to remember her may donate to a charity of choice. The family would like to thank the staff at Eastside Rehab and Living Center for their kindness and caring to our mother and to us in her last days. They made a difficult time easier for all of us and always treated us with respect and dignity. Arrangements by Cremation Basics, Bangor.
